Medical procedures regulating the execution of treatments are developed to ensure high precision in diagnostics and quality of care. They minimize the risk of side effects and maximize the benefits of modern medical techniques. This is particularly evident in cancer radiotherapy, where every moment and every millimeter matter for the health of patients. The Ministerstwo Zdrowia (Polish Ministry of Health) has published information about the expert teams responsible for developing these model medical radiological procedures for standard medical exposures. Our distinguished specialists, Dr. hab. Eng. Renata Kopeć, Professor at IFJ PAN, and MSc. Eng. Dawid Krzempek, who are dedicated to patient care at the Bronowice Cyclotron Center at The Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences (IFJ PAN) and are advancing modern radiotherapeutic methods, have been appointed to the following teams: 💡 Proton beam radiotherapy for eye cancer 💡 Proton beam radiotherapy for cancers located outside the eye 💡 Proton beam radiotherapy for pediatric cancers We are confident that their contributions to the development of these standard medical radiological procedures will help elevate the standards of care in Poland. #IFJPAN #CCB #Protonotherapy #Radiotherapy #

We are thrilled to announce the publication of our pilot study titled **"Exploring the Potential Value of [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 PET-CT for Molecular Assessment of Fibroblast Activation in Interstitial Lung Disease: A Single-Center Pilot Study" in **Clinical Nuclear Medicine**. In our study, we aimed to assess the association between high-resolution #computed_tomography (#HRCT) findings and #pulmonary fibrotic activity using [68Ga]Ga-FAPI PET/CT in patients with interstitial lung disease (#ILD). Additionally, we explored the efficacy of combining [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 PET/CT with 99mTc-MIBI SPECT/CT for evaluating fibrosis and inflammation in ILD. Key highlights from our findings: - Our results included 20 ILD patients, revealing significant differences in multiple PET-derived parameters compared to a control group. - There was a notable correlation between HRCT fibrosis scores and several PET metrics, highlighting the potential of these imaging modalities in assessing fibrotic activity. - Interestingly, we also identified intense FAPI uptake in the gallbladder among ILD patients, an observation not found in the control group. Our conclusion suggests that the integrated use of [68Ga]Ga-FAPI PET/CT and 99mTc-MIBI SPECT/CT may provide greater insights into the complex pathology of ILD, enhancing our understanding of fibrotic activity driven by fibroblasts and the inflammatory processes at play. We are excited about the implications of our work in advancing the molecular assessment and management of ILD! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/giQtrxJN #InterstitialLungDisease #FAPI #ILD #NuclearMedicine #PETCT #Fibrosis #ClinicalNuclearMedicine #MedicalImaging #PGNMRC

Whole-body SPECT imaging is a powerful diagnostic tool that combines functional and anatomical information to provide detailed insights into the entire body. It is particularly valuable in detecting and monitoring diseases such as metastatic cancer, bone disorders, and certain neurological conditions. This imaging modality uses radiotracers to highlight areas of abnormal metabolic activity, helping clinicians make accurate diagnoses and guide targeted treatments. The ability to visualize functional changes at a molecular level makes SPECT a cornerstone in personalized medicine. Excited to continue exploring the advancements in nuclear medicine and their impact on patient care! 🚀 #NuclearMedicine #SPECT #WholeBodyScan #MedicalImaging #ProfessionalGrowth

Did You Know? The Story of Iodine-131 🧬 Discovered over 80 years ago in 1938, Iodine-131 has remained a cornerstone of modern nuclear medicine. This radioactive isotope has been a game-changer, particularly in treating thyroid disorders, such as hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer. But how does it work? 🤔 Once administered, Iodine-131 travels directly to the thyroid, where it emits radiation to selectively destroy overactive or cancerous thyroid cells. This precision allows for targeted treatment, reducing the need for invasive surgery and minimizing side effects. ✨ 🌟 Still in Use Today: Fast forward to today, and Iodine-131 is still widely used around the world, proving its lasting impact on healthcare. It’s trusted by physicians because of its effectiveness, safety, and ability to provide long-term results. From shrinking overactive thyroids to eradicating cancer cells, this small but powerful isotope continues to save lives. 🌍 A Global Legacy: Used in hospitals and clinics globally, Iodine-131 remains a prime example of how early scientific breakthroughs continue to drive modern medicine forward. Its applications have expanded, and it now helps millions of people lead healthier lives with fewer complications. From 1938 to 2024, Iodine-131’s story is one of longevity, innovation, and healing. It’s amazing how a discovery from decades ago continues to play such a critical role in thyroid health today! 🙌 #Iodine131 #ThyroidHealth #NuclearMedicine #ThyroidTreatment #Radiopharmaceuticals #MedicalInnovation #FunFactFriday #HealthcareRevolution #IMS

Selfies with Celebs, Now with Yigal Livne Meeting Yigal recently was a reminder of how much impact one person’s vision and skill can have on an entire field. Yigal designed the first image-guided positioning system for treating patients with protons in a seated position. (Thank you Oren Arad, Danny Ellenbogen, Yael Braude, Yaron Anaki, and others 🙂, too.) That system was installed at Northwestern Medicine, marking a pivotal moment in the shift towards a compact, gantry-less approach in proton therapy. Back then, we were just beginning to explore what was possible. Today, P-Cure has grown into a provider of fully FDA-cleared systems, with manufacturing capabilities that can support global demand. But when I think back to Yigal’s original design, it still feels like the heartbeat of our journey. What stood out during our conversation wasn’t just the technical genius of that design, but the idea it represented—patient care at the center, always. It’s that same principle that continues to drive the evolution of particle therapy, bringing it closer to becoming mainstream clinical practice. This meeting wasn’t just a trip down memory lane; it was a chance to reflect on where we started, how much we’ve grown, and how innovation like Yigal’s continues to shape the future. I’m grateful for people like him who dare to think differently and build solutions that truly make a difference. #Gratitude #ProtonTherapy #Innovation #EngineeringWithPurpose American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) AAPM Student and Trainees Subcommittee P-Cure Ltd Philips Elekta Varian Siemens Healthineers Hadassah Medical Center Sharett Oncology Institute Aron Popovtzer Jon Feldman Philip Blumenfeld Marcel Fang
