We're excited to be part of this brilliant line up - Rebecca Norris will be contributing to a panel discussion about "Being a Lawyer, Being a Human: the Importance of Autonomy in the Workplace". One of the core principles of trauma informed law is understanding that trauma often results from a loss of control. When lawyers feel powerless—whether in how they manage their caseloads or engage with their clients—it can lead to burnout, compassion fatigue, or even vicarious trauma. By prioritising autonomy, we regain a sense of empowerment that is crucial for sustainable practice and re-connection with our human selves. If this resonates for you, visit https://lnkd.in/eW9TrMu7 to learn more about how we can support you, your team and your practice.

I’m grateful to be alongside fantastic speakers James Pereira KC Nick Bloy Richard Martin Rob Stephenson⁷ 🐙 Bree Buchanan Manu Kanwar Lucinda Soon Toni Graves michelle morais at the 6th Annual Conference on Wellbeing For Lawyers this Thursday, run by The Legal Training Consultancy. I'll be part of a panel discussion talking about: "Being a Lawyer, Being a Human: The Importance of Autonomy in the Workplace". In the legal profession, where power dynamics often shape our day-to-day interactions, the need for autonomy and empowerment is critical—not just for individual wellbeing but for creating sustainable practices and retaining top talent. Drawing on the exciting work that we do at Trauma Informed Law (shout out to my inspirational co-founder Camilla Wells Coaching), I'll be talking about the importance of allowing ourselves to be humans, as well as lawyers - and normalising basic human needs in our fast-paced, high-demand environments. *** Attending this conference several years, featuring many of the speakers listed above, played a significant role in encouraging me to pursue the work I’m doing today. With gratitude to you all for your bold insights 🧡 Tickets are still available here: https://lnkd.in/eVfUG5y7

I'm really excited to have been accepted as a Lawscot Wellbeing Champion 🏆 Wellbeing is a fuzzy term that will make some of you instantly scroll past. STOP! 🙃 Worrying about wellbeing, as well as being the right thing to do, is also incredibly good for business. Don't take that from me... "The evidence... is suggestive of a strong, positive relationship between employee wellbeing, employee productivity, and firm performance. Raising the wellbeing of society is a central goal for policy-makers, and it is a goal that is not in opposition to the interests of the business community. There is an important role for business leaders to play in being a strong positive force for raising the wellbeing of society." Said Business School Research Papers. I am really looking forward to exploring wellbeing in the legal world of Scotland. There are so many areas relating to this that I am interested in: working parents, time recording, coaching and management in firms, perfectionism, status, neurodiversity, social mobility, staff retention, burnout, talent recruitment and mental health etc. If you'd like to join me as a Wellbeing Champion you can apply below 💪 The Law Society of Scotland #wellbeing #scotland #mentalhealth
📣Could you champion wellbeing in your area? We're delighted to launch Lawscot Wellbeing Champions, a new scheme aimed at growing the number of grassroot wellbeing initiatives across Scotland. We are looking for 20 wellbeing champions who have ambitions to change an aspect of wellbeing in law. Meeting for the sake of meeting… If you run a group practice, offer autonomy to your associates if you want to retain the best people. Quality therapists don’t need to be micromanaged, and no one likes sitting in a long meeting where nothing’s getting accomplished. Finally, if you’re the person who always has something to add at the end of the meeting, just wait and ask your question privately.

A revised "Work Well From Home" edition offers clear, sensible advice that is applicable globally. The work health and safety advice is not overt and is included in the questions, tips, and discussion. One of the better business books. (with a gratuitous photo of my dog, Max) https://lnkd.in/gzF5FCHu
A good working-from-home book… finally
