What’s going up faster than inflation? Postal rates. The price of a stamp just went up again – from $.68 to $.73. Meanwhile mail volume and service levels are going down. On-time delivery is at its lowest level in 3 years. And the United States Postal Service is still not financially sound. We explained the USPS rate increase and what that means for the paper industry. https://bit.ly/4d88ePq

From our May 6 comments to the Postal Regulatory Commission on the United States Postal Service rate proposal: Once again, the USPS Governors have determined to use virtually all of the rate authority available to them under the modified system. Despite inflation of only 1.6 percent, the Postal Service proposes total rate increases on a class basis of nearly 7.8 percent for First-Class Mail and Marketing Mail, and of almost 10 percent for Periodicals. If the Commission were to approve these proposals, then the compounded price increases from January 2021 – July 2024 at the product level would be staggering, ranging from 29 percent to over 83 percent.

Wow! Such GREAT content in this discussion from David Rosendahl (Mindfire) with Marie Clarke (Pres EMA) and Gerry Klug (Sylvamo). It's an hour long but worth it to find time to listen in! Bottom line - USPS has served the individuals of the Unites States for 249 years and now serves 167,000,000 million people 6 days a week - during Covid, they were 'frontline"! It's easy to complain about rising costs but what a VALUE mail brings to each of us. We've lost sight of it's importance. Costs are rising as the USPS tries to navigate it's way through a changing world. As citizens and businesses we should be involved - to push back AND to advocate. It's noted near the end that, to date, with all the digital options out there, STILL NOTHING BEATS THE ROI of mail! Get involved where you can. At Advertisers Printing Company we're making sure we understand all the opportunties for savings the USPS offers so we are able to provide pathways for our customers to take advantage of every discount available to them. We don't want to lose this amazing beast we lovingly know as the United States Postal Service - it's a complicated, frightening, but beautifully powerful asset to the individuals of our country! #Powerofprint #Directmailworks Alex FechnerDan Tissi📬liz lewisPatrick BloomerJohn Heaney M.S.Bill Gorman
