Going to #DiscoveryX tomorrow? Here are the things that I’m mostly looking forward to: ✅ Further developing relationships with the members of the Toronto investment community. No, we are not raising at Mavuus, but it's never too early to start building connections. ✅ Meeting the founders of the latest and greatest tech innovations. I love hearing about other people’s ideas and their success - it’s definitely a source of inspiration. ✅ Lastly, watching the Pitch Competition from early-stage startups. Honestly, they are my absolute favorite thing to do when at conferences. Want to learn the pitching Do’s and Don’ts? This is your place to start. Want to exchange notes on Top Things at #DisoveryX? Let’s connect.

This is how founders can identify 500+ Investors who are most likely to invest in their startup within 60 seconds. Go to The ORCA Network .com Type in your startup URL. Done. See a list of highly relevant investors and quickly see if you should go through a mutual connection or cold outbound. Our research agent shows exactly why they are relevant and tells you what info to highlight in your messages. Any feedback on how it can be further simplified would be awesome to hear.

I receive a lot of question about finding investors, both personally and within our Literally Helping Startups community. Though it's not my usual practice, I figured I would share a curated list of 1570 global investors accessible without Warm Introductions available in our free Discord Community. Accessible via the link in my bio (Robert McIntosh). Thanks to Eva Dobrzanska from our team for sharing this resource last week, if you missed it. However I cant stress enough, securing an introduction is just half the battle. Without preparation, the right documents, and thorough research on your potential investor, your efforts will fall flat and you might as well pitch to your wall. Remember, investors have likely encountered ideas similar to yours before, even though you think you are unique. To stand out, you must be well-prepared with a compelling pitch and materials that resonate with their thesis. Getting your foot in the door post-introduction requires readiness, compelling pitch and materials, and relevance to the investor. Ensure these elements are in place to avoid missing a valuable opportunity and also avoid burning a bridge. Please reshare and for assistance with preparation or any related concerns, feel free to reach out. I'm here to help!

Calling on my connections that support founders to comment with some of their favorite founders. #founderfriday These people help make startups possible: Daniel Sawko of shipshape.vc that connects founders like me with investor data. Victoria Kozyreva of Go Global World that hosts an awesome Shark Tank style pitch forum and a great site. Ines LeBow of The Big Idea CONNECTpreneur Community the worlds largest virtual forum for startups to pitch Nicolò Sgobba of Evalify helping investors make intelligent decisions Mamta Dhanuka of KiwiTech helping build the best new technology. Each of them has been kind and helpful to Salesium. If you are a founder that needs direction you can't do better than these awesome people. (It's always about the people, not the tech)

Bryn Rees --> 🙏 👏 "A RETROSPECTIVE" - Capital, Talent, and Startups: Under Resourced, Under Served, and Overlooked --> ICYMI: Check out the photo album, https://lnkd.in/gwVskNFV "We are Face to Face with the True Future of Business", Seth Levine, The New Builders 2021. Heartfelt gratitude to Seth, Bryn Rees, Stan Hickory, Sheila Duffy and my counterpart in "crime" Brad Bernthal for his nudge. Shout out to: Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship CU Boulder Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative Venture Partners at CU Boulder Burridge Center for Finance This special event reminded me of the Amy Cuddy work "Presence" where the cover states, "Bring your BOLDEST SELF to your BIGGEST CHALLENGES". We, meaning, the community, system, network, and ecosystem, etc., need to "MAKE A LEAP" ---- Period. So, here are my reflections after a number of days and conversations followed by a CTA! Tuesday, April 9th was a special event, full of talent, frankness and grit. My candid question is, "Now, What"? John Tayer, CEO and President, Boulder Chamber, said it, and Brad Bernthal, Silicon Flatiron's Executive Director, echoed similar, although slightly nuanced. My thought, "the Infliction Point is here, staring us in the face." What are we going to do that is practical? I challenge myself, folks directly connected to the event, the community and folks with interest ---- to turn the event into movement, movement to action and action to impact. Call To Action: 1. Henry's Open Letter to Panelists, Supports, Funders, Founders, Ecosystem Builders, Entrepreneurs, CU Connected folks and Community Friends (e.g. the Community) - You are reading it! 2. Takeaways, Ideas and Potential Next Steps from Panelists, Supports, Funders, Founders, Ecosystem Builders, Entrepreneurs, and CU Connected Folks - "Panelist, and Supporters are currently vetting an Open Collaborative Google Doc" 3. Skin in the Game? Henry's targeted email to Panelists, Supports, Funders, Founders, Ecosystem Builders, Entrepreneurs, CU Connected folks and Community Friends (e.g. the Community) - 8 to 12 Business Days from April 9th 4. "Open GDoc" for Community Comment - 10 to 15 Business Days from April 9th 5. Publish and Communicate Next Steps 6. Start --> Well, I already did! 🚀
Thanks to all speakers and attendees for creating a meaningful set of discussions at the April Variety Show. This month’s discussions will be influential for the campus and the area startup community. Special thanks to guest host Henry L. Wright for opening up his network and catalyzing so much of the event, as well as our incredible lineup of speakers. ICYMI: Check out the photo album, https://lnkd.in/gwVskNFV and the video recording will be posted soon to the Silicon Flatirons YouTube Channel.
