🌟We’re excited to share with you the recently published talk on ‘Randomization in clinical trials’ by Dr. Alex Sverdlov, Statistical Lead at Novartis. Randomization is important in clinical trials to help mitigate selection bias, contribute to the validity of statistical estimators and tests, as well as promote the similarity of treatment groups with respect to known and unknown cofounders. In his talk, Dr. Sverdlov reviews various randomization designs, highlighting their balance-randomness trade-offs and the importance of selecting the appropriate randomization method based on the needs of the trial. Clinical Research: what is it ? Clinical research is the comprehensive study of the safety and effectiveness of the most promising advances in patient care. Clinical research is different than laboratory research. It involves people who volunteer to help us better understand medicine and health. Lab research generally does not involve people — although it helps us learn which new ideas may help people. Every drug, device, tool, diagnostic test, technique and technology used in medicine today was once tested in volunteers who took part in clinical research studies.
