Discover cutting-edge vascular treatments with innovative techniques! I’m thrilled to share that my latest vascular intervention, the "Percut-AV-bypass," was enthusiastically received at the prestigious Charing Cross Symposium in London. This groundbreaking technique, which I presented following its debut at the ESVS in Belfast, enables the creation of hemodialysis access through a fully percutaneous approach. What is the Percut-AV-bypass? The Percut-AV-bypass is an extension of percutaneous bypass innovations, simplifying procedures for patients requiring vascular access for hemodialysis. This technique allows for shunts to be created to respond to the difficult problem of venous breakdown, without traditional surgery, significantly reducing recovery time and enhancing patient comfort. Charing Cross Symposium, an epicenter for vascular and endovascular education, focuses on emerging challenges in vascular medicine, underscores the critical importance of innovative solutions like those, and was a fantastic platform to introduce the Percut-AV-bypass to peers worldwide. Join us in advancing vascular care. If you're interested in learning more about the Percut-AV-bypass or other innovations in percutaneous bypasses, please feel free to connect. Let’s work together to improve patient outcomes with advanced, minimally invasive treatments that set new standards in vascular care. #VascularHealth #Innovation #CharingCross2025 #HealthcareCollaboration #PercutaneousBypass

Thyroidectomy complications include nerve damage, hypoparathyroidism, and bleeding. Hypoparathyroidism, marked by reduced parathyroid function, is a common complication, leading to low calcium levels and symptoms like muscle cramps. Incidence rates vary. Surgeons must prioritize parathyroid gland identification and protection during surgery to prevent complications and ensure patient well-being. https://lnkd.in/gEK2mKHV Article title: Right atrial thrombus: A new cause of Paroxysmal complete Heart Block Author(s): Shogo Shimada; Louis Samuels* Journal: Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiology Journal ISSN: 2455-2976 Abstract: We present a patient with a large right atrial (RA) thrombus complicated by paroxysmal complete atrioventricular (AV) block requiring urgent surgery. This is a rare complication of RA thrombi with the potential pathogenesis being direct mechanical insult on the AV node by the thrombus. Surgical thrombectomy led to complete resolution. #CoronaryArteryDiseases #ValvularHeartDisease #Electrophysiology #CardiacElectrophysiology #Echocardiography #InterventionalCardiology #ClinicalCardiology #NuclearCardiology #AcuteCoronarySyndromes #ArrhythmiaEP #CVImaging #CVDPrevention #CardiacArrhythmias #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #OpenAccess #ScientificJournals #PeerReviewedJournals #OpenAccessPublishers #CardiacPhysiology #CardiacRegeneration #CardiacRehabilitation #Cardiomyopathies #CardiovascularDrugs #CardiovascularTherapy #CardiovascularAnatomy #CongenitalHeartDefects

Have you seen the latest publication in the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM) MDPI by our esteemed #ISSLS members Akinobu Suzuki, Shinji Takahashi, and Hiroaki Nakamura? Their groundbreaking study aimed to evaluate the functional outcomes and investigate the #RiskFactors for poor outcomes after palliative surgery for #spinal #metastases. This is the first study to demonstrate that hemoglobin levels are associated with functional recovery after surgery for spinal metastases. Considering the fundamental need to improve postoperative outcomes in already compromised patients undergoing surgery for spinal metastases, it is essential to recognize specific factors that could affect recovery trajectories following surgery. Key findings: 1️⃣ A lower Tokuhashi score and hemoglobin level were significantly associated with poor outcomes 2️⃣ The poor outcome group showed a significantly lower general condition and more extraspinal and spinal bone metastases 3️⃣ A lower general condition, a higher number of extraspinal bone metastases, a higher number of metastases in the vertebral body, and metastases to the major internal organs were independent factors associated with poor outcomes. Find their full body of work here 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gFKX5Nwf to read more! This publication is a testament to the incredible work being done by #ISSLS members. 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞: 𝐃𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐬 Dr Chris Rogan, Director of Interventional Radiology at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, recently spoke on 2GB’s Healthy Living with Dr Ross Walker about cutting-edge, non-surgical treatments, including prostate artery embolisation. This new and innovative procedure treats benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), which is when the prostate grows larger but isn’t cancerous. By injecting tiny particles into the blood vessels that supply the prostate, doctors can reduce blood flow, which shrinks the prostate and eases symptoms like trouble urinating—all without surgery. This approach helps patients recover faster and with less risk. #Endotoxemia is frequent in critically ill patients, including patients undergoing cardiac surgery [1], or patients who are being resuscitated after cardiac arrest [2]. One of the reasons why, is that ischemia-reperfusion can cause endotoxin to leak from the gut into the bloodstream [3]. Endotoxin can lead to direct or indirect organ damage, including biological and functional damage on cardiomyocytes [4] and in the worst cases lead to unresponsive endotoxic shock causing death. Polymyxin B HemoAdsorption (PMX-HA, medical device Toraymyxin®) is the most potent endotoxin neutralizer, combining the unique properties of Polymyxin B with HemoAdsorption. Our partner #EUROSETS is present at the #EUROELSO Annual Meeting which takes place in Krakow on 24-27 April. 💡 Monday Insights: Earlier Heart Valve Surgery, Better Outcomes On the beginning day of every week, we dive deep into the latest news and insights from the biotech, pharma, and life science industries 🧠 📍 Today's insight: A groundbreaking new study challenges the traditional "wait-and-see" approach for patients with severe aortic stenosis. Researchers found that early valve replacement surgery can significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and improve overall outcomes. The study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, demonstrated that patients who underwent early surgery with a minimally invasive procedure had a significantly lower risk of heart-related hospitalizations compared to those who opted for a more conservative approach. This paradigm shift in treatment could have a profound impact on the lives of countless patients with severe aortic stenosis. By addressing the underlying issue early on, doctors can potentially prevent serious complications and improve long-term health.
