🌟 A massive thank you to the wonderful team Dunelm Paisley and their amazing customers for their generous donations to help the animals at Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre! 🐾💜
Your kindness and support make such a difference to the lives of animals in our care, especially over the Christmas period. From all of us at the Scottish SPCA (and all the paws, tails, and whiskers you’ve helped), thank you for being part of the rescue!

Did you know pet owners have a higher than average propensity to leave charitable bequests in their wills?
This generosity, combined with the way responsible pet owners tend to use estate plans to care for their pets when they pass away, means that animal organizations are uniquely positioned to help their supporters while securing legacy gifts.

TODAY, on Giving Tuesday, you can help with the ongoing work of these dedicated officers.
Our Animal Protection Officers face one of the toughest, most dangerous jobs in the shelter world—and they do it willingly, day in and day out, because the animals need them. From responding to distress calls to rescuing animals in life-threatening situations, the risks are real, and the emotional toll is heavy. But despite the challenges, they stay. They stay for the animals who have no voice, no advocate—those who are sick, injured, or abandoned.
This #GivingTuesday, your donation can make a direct impact on the lives of both the animals our officers rescue and the officers themselves. Your support helps keep our team safe as they face dangerous situations, provides the critical care the animals need to heal, and enables us to offer ongoing training and education to ensure our officers are equipped to handle the toughest of challenges. By giving today, you're not just supporting the rescue efforts—you’re empowering our team to continue their life-saving work with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to succeed.

Animal Ask's recent article explores a framework for evaluating animal welfare interventions, aiming to balance trade-offs between different subjective experiences of animals.
By considering various moral perspectives and the differing importance of species' experiences, the framework provides a comprehensive method to compare and prioritize interventions effectively.

We are beyond excited to present to you our latest report, which we hope will be of help from many groups and animal advocates: Animal welfare in the United States: Opportunities for impact.
From the Summary:
"In this report, we give an overview of animal production in the United States. We explore which industries are responsible for the largest amount of animal exploitation in the United States. We touch on all major farmed and wild-caught sectors in the country, before taking a deeper look at egg production and chicken meat production.
Looking at how animal production is clustered by state and county, we point out where there are opportunities for animal advocacy organisations to make the biggest impact on the lives of animals. We also provide an overview of the economic forces that determine how animals are farmed and killed, which can help us to understand whether any given campaign will deliver the impact that we intend."
-----
We want to help you!
Are you an animal advocacy organisation seeking to conduct a high-impact campaign? We would love to work with you—like the insights in this report, we can provide detailed, specific analysis for the campaigns that your organisation is interested in. This is an initial scoping report, and we have only scratched the surface. We can inform the choice of campaign to empower your organisation to do the most good for animals.

The Challenge of Fundraising for Animal Welfare 🐾
In the world of fundraising, animal welfare can sometimes feel like an uphill battle. Unlike human services, where the impact is often immediate and visible, our work at the Humane Society of Missouri focuses on giving a voice to those who can’t speak for themselves—our animals.
What drives us as fundraisers is knowing that every dollar raised translates directly into lives saved: a puppy rescued from neglect, a senior cat finding comfort in its final days, or a rehabilitated animal thriving in a forever home. But we also know it takes creativity and connection to inspire people to see the value in our work.
My team and I are always looking for new ways to tell these stories, build trust, and connect our community’s passion to the urgent needs of the animals we serve. When we connect hearts to our mission, we not only raise funds—we build a movement of people who care deeply about the well-being of all creatures in our city.
To my fellow fundraisers: never underestimate the power of storytelling. It’s the bridge between empathy and action. Let’s continue to inspire others to support the causes that matter most.
