First post of the year? It’s been quite an eventful year and here’s the timeline of a feature film we locked few weeks ago. I love an organised timeline not just because it helps me to stay organized but also because it makes turnovers less complicated. From sound to colour and VFX turnovers. Editors are often advised to organize their timelines in such a way that another editor can figure it out in minutes(just incase the project gets transferred to another editor) #FilmEditing #DavinciResolve #BlackmagicDesign #TimelineThursday

Another one I've worked on, mangos falling and bouncing! 🍊✨ This one was a quickie "back to basics"! #bouncingball This project reminded me of the importance of mastering the basics. Just like the classic bouncing ball exercise, animating these mangos was a fantastic way to revisit the core principles of timing and weight. It’s always rewarding to go back to basics and see how foundational skills can bring a simple concept to life in a fun and dynamic way. #Cinema4D #Animation3D #KeyframeAnimation

Real-time rendering allows filmmakers to visualize complex effects, environments, and lighting instantly—all while on set. Instead of waiting days or weeks for post-production, directors and cinematographers can see how a scene looks in real time and make immediate adjustments. How does this impact post-production? By eliminating the need for extensive editing after shooting, real-time rendering speeds up the process, reducing costs and giving more creative control during filming. VFX, lighting, and environments can all be adjusted on the fly, making it easier to achieve the perfect shot without the back-and-forth of traditional methods. The result? A more efficient workflow that lets filmmakers focus on creativity, knowing they can tweak and refine their vision in the moment. #RealTimeRendering #FilmmakingTech #DigitalProduction #CinematographyInnovation

Directing a green screen scenes comes with its unique set of challenges, especially when working for a high-profile client. One of the biggest hurdles is ensuring that the actors can convincingly interact with an environment that doesn't physically exist. It requires clear communication and imagination from both the director and the talent. Lighting is another critical challenge—balancing it to avoid spill while maintaining consistency for post-production is essential. Additionally, framing and camera movements must be meticulously planned, as any deviation can cause issues in compositing later. Finally, the post-production process can be intense, with every decision on set impacting the final visual quality. Despite these challenges, the payoff is always worth it when the virtual world seamlessly integrates with the real, bringing the client’s vision to life. #GreenScreen #Filmmaking #Challenges #CreativeDirection #fedfina #hareshpaniafilms

I love to take risks while filming a shot but definitely keeping in mind the safety of others ie, the cast and crew. This time I wrote a very difficult scene, wherein I'll be filming a moving car shot. To someone who knows the technology of using hostess trays, rigs and rachet straps etc wherein the camera is mounted on the car, might not sound a big deal. But to me it does, not because it's my first time but I want it to be natural. Like- Capturing the inside collision while crossing a bumpy terrain. With the above technique will get a stabilized shot, while I look forward to making it realistic but in a real location. Strictly not planning any VFX. Keeping both the quality of the output and money involved, in consideration. That's it, I am working with my team in finding solutions to my vision. And as some people in my crew already know that I am absolutely a nagging director when it comes to achieving my perfect frame and shot. PS: Money constraints are nothing new in a production. What is needed is a collaboration with the finest team in making your dream into reality. #directorslife #filmmaking #film #upcomingfilm

10 Things to Avoid While Shooting Small Budget Films 🎥 Creating a film on a small budget can be a challenging yet rewarding experience. However, there are several common pitfalls that can derail your project if not carefully managed. Based on my experience, here are 10 things you should avoid to ensure your small budget film is a success: 1. Overcomplicating the Script: Keep your story simple. A complex script often requires more locations, actors, and resources, which can quickly exceed your budget. 2. Ignoring Pre-Production: Skimping on pre-production planning is a recipe for disaster. Take the time to meticulously plan every aspect of your shoot, from locations to shot lists, to avoid costly delays and mistakes. 3. Hiring a Large Crew: For a small budget film, a smaller, more versatile crew is ideal. Too many people on set can lead to confusion and increased costs. Focus on quality over quantity. 4. Failing to Secure Locations: Don’t wait until the last minute to secure your shooting locations. Negotiating early can save money and ensure you have the perfect setting for your scenes. 5. Neglecting Sound: Poor sound quality is one of the quickest ways to make a film feel amateurish. Invest in good sound equipment and make sure you have a dedicated sound person on set. 6. Underestimating Post-Production: Post-production is where your film truly comes together. Allocate enough time and resources for editing, sound design, and color correction to avoid rushing through this critical phase. 7. Over-relying on VFX: Visual effects can be expensive and time-consuming. Avoid relying heavily on VFX unless absolutely necessary, and instead focus on practical effects and in-camera tricks that are more budget-friendly. 8. Not Having a Contingency Plan: Always have a contingency plan for unforeseen challenges, whether it's a backup location or extra time built into your schedule. Flexibility is key to staying on budget. 9. Forgetting Legalities: Ensure you have all the necessary permits, contracts, and rights clearances before shooting. Legal issues can halt production and add unexpected costs. 10. Ignoring the Audience: Keep your target audience in mind throughout the entire process. Tailoring your film to appeal to your intended viewers will make it easier to market and more likely to succeed. By avoiding these common mistakes, you can make the most out of your small budget and deliver a high-quality film that resonates with your audience. #Filmmaking #SmallBudgetFilms #FilmProduction #IndieFilm #FilmmakerTips
