Remember when a parent talking to a child about reproductive health seemed taboo? Thanks to the United States President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief to have launched the #DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe) program targeting Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), now the narrative is changing for the better. With the support from USAID/Tanzania we have reached 11,532 adolescent girls in 73 schools of Nyamagana District in Mwanza Region. DREAMS has empowered the girls with: ✅ Reproductive health education ✅ HIV/AIDS prevention and care knowledge ✅ Gender-Based Violence, prevention and response ✅ Financial literacy Further, the USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Northeastern Zone Project supported the girls with educational subsidies including schoolbags, exercise books and sanitary kits. "When she comes from school, she also shares with me what she has been taught by her teachers. She told me, to send a child at night is a form of abuse to a child. I used to think it was okay to do so. I stopped after learning from her," Sophia Riziki mother to Hyasinta an adolescent girl reached through the #DREAMS program at Mkolani Primary School. DREAMS is making it possible for hundreds of girls to realize their dreams. We join hands in celebrating 10 years of #DREAMS. Day 7: December 1 – GBV and Health Theme: Sexual and Reproductive Health Today, as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we focus on the critical link between GBV and sexual and reproductive health. Survivors of gender-based violence often face devastating health consequences, including HIV, STIs, unwanted pregnancies, and mental health issues. Addressing these challenges requires a holistic approach that combines healthcare, education, and advocacy. Why This Matters: Gender-based violence (GBV) significantly impacts individuals' health and well-being. Survivors often experience barriers to accessing healthcare due to stigma, fear, or lack of resources. It's essential to create safe spaces where survivors can receive the care they need without judgment. What We’re Doing Today: Health Screenings and HIV Testing: Offering accessible and confidential services to help individuals take charge of their health. Awareness Sessions: Educating communities on the links between GBV and reproductive health, addressing misconceptions, and reducing stigma around survivors seeking care. Advocating for Survivors’ Rights: Calling for policies that integrate GBV response into healthcare systems, ensuring survivors receive comprehensive support, including mental health care and legal aid. At Donya Justice Network Kenya, we believe that ending GBV starts with empowering survivors and breaking the silence around reproductive health challenges. Together, we can create a world where everyone has access to safe, stigma-free healthcare and where survivors' rights and dignity are upheld. Join us in raising awareness and supporting this vital cause. #16DaysOfActivism #EndGBV #SexualHealth #ReproductiveHealth #HIVAwareness #BreakTheCycle #EmpowerSurvivors #DonyaJusticeNetworkKenya #HealthForAll #GenderEquality #ProtectAndRespect #TogetherForChange #intersexkenyaeducationandsdvocacy UNAIDS World Health Organization Amnesty International CREAWKenya Giving Light To Societies Foundation Donya Justice Network Kenya

This year Robert Carr Fund developed Strategic Plan for 2025-2030. We did this "the RCF way" - by using participatory approach engaging closely with our donors, grantees and partners. RCF envisions a strong, vibrant, and resilient civil society, leading the HIV response towards the end of the epidemic by 2030 with improved health, wellbeing and social inclusion of inadequately served populations. We have identified the following strategic priorities for 2025-2030: 1. We will continue to support global and regional networks by providing core, long-term and flexible funding. 2. We will focus on #HIV and sexual and reproductive health and rights (#SRHR). 3. Inadequately served populations (or ISPs) will remain our priority. 4. We will prioritize community-led networks. 5. We will focus on the Global South, as a primary region. Our grantees and funding partners recognize RCF’s unique and efficient funding approach and acknowledge our capacity to shape a future where no one is left behind. Apply for our funding and become part of the #RCFfamily! Read more about our Strategy: https://bit.ly/3Rur7nF Apply for the RFC funding 2025-2027: https://bit.ly/4b42aao #CommunitiesFirst
