Day 7: December 1 – GBV and Health Theme: Sexual and Reproductive Health Today, as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we focus on the critical link between GBV and sexual and reproductive health. Survivors of gender-based violence often face devastating health consequences, including HIV, STIs, unwanted pregnancies, and mental health issues. Addressing these challenges requires a holistic approach that combines healthcare, education, and advocacy. Why This Matters: Gender-based violence (GBV) significantly impacts individuals' health and well-being. Survivors often experience barriers to accessing healthcare due to stigma, fear, or lack of resources. It's essential to create safe spaces where survivors can receive the care they need without judgment. What We’re Doing Today: Health Screenings and HIV Testing: Offering accessible and confidential services to help individuals take charge of their health. Awareness Sessions: Educating communities on the links between GBV and reproductive health, addressing misconceptions, and reducing stigma around survivors seeking care. Advocating for Survivors’ Rights: Calling for policies that integrate GBV response into healthcare systems, ensuring survivors receive comprehensive support, including mental health care and legal aid. At Donya Justice Network Kenya, we believe that ending GBV starts with empowering survivors and breaking the silence around reproductive health challenges. Together, we can create a world where everyone has access to safe, stigma-free healthcare and where survivors' rights and dignity are upheld. Join us in raising awareness and supporting this vital cause. #16DaysOfActivism #EndGBV #SexualHealth #ReproductiveHealth #HIVAwareness #BreakTheCycle #EmpowerSurvivors #DonyaJusticeNetworkKenya #HealthForAll #GenderEquality #ProtectAndRespect #TogetherForChange #intersexkenyaeducationandsdvocacy UNAIDS World Health Organization Amnesty International CREAWKenya Giving Light To Societies Foundation Donya Justice Network Kenya
