Rutherford Briant Advent | Day 16 🎄 “Having nearly seen a decade’s worth of Christmas’ at RBR, I feel I am well versed at seeing a number of traditions within the RBR office either make the cut for the years’ to come or quickly being parked. Here are some of my favourites... The first tradition that has stood the test of time, would be the ‘Pimp my Desk’ competition, which takes place at the start of December. Each team will decorate their bank of desks in an attempt to create the best festive themed workspace. A previous standout has to be the full nativity theme, including props. At times the attempts at winning may have gone more overboard, leaving the office illuminated like the Las Vegas strip! Our Secret Santa is done at the Christmas party every year. As an office we are notoriously bad at keeping the ‘secret’ part a secret, so more often than not there aren’t too many surprises. A highlight though will be the more than questionable gift that is given to a rather unsuspecting person every year. A few of these ring to mind, however have been told I cannot share. Another highlight is Iain Jones’ Christmas eve quizzes, whilst dressed as an elf. Once the elf has concluded his highly intellectual questions and a winner is declared you get the sense you are on the home stretch for the Christmas break. Iain did used to get to the office early on this day and prepare bacon sandwiches for everyone, however against the majority’s will this tradition has been put to bed. Every year we deliver gifts and meet with clients we have worked with over the course of that year. These meetings are particular enjoyable, where we review the work we have done that year and discuss hiring plans for the following 12 months. Similarly to most recruitment businesses it also wouldn’t be Christmas without a consultant placing a candidate on Christmas Eve and declaring that they have ‘Made their Christmas’.
