What is aquatic biodiversity, and why is it important? 🤔 Aquatic biodiversity can be described as anything that lives in the water, including plants, wildlife, and other organisms. Biodiversity helps regulate our climate, provide food for wildlife, maintain natural habitats, and more. Good biodiversity equals a good, healthy ecosystem. 🐟 🌱 At Sea & Shoreline, we work to create, enhance, and promote biodiversity. We are combating the biodiversity crisis, one plant at a time. 💪 #Biodiversity #Ecosystems #Wildlife

The #NaturesTechnicians report spotlights lesser-known species from the mammal and insect world that play a crucial role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. These often overlooked species are vital in supporting ecosystem balance, from filtering water to pollinating crops. Take parrotfish, for instance. In marine reserves where they are protected, coral reefs are SIX TIMES more resilient to bleaching and other disturbances. This is just one example of how biodiversity helps sustain ecosystems. It’s clear that world leaders must take bold steps to #ActForOurPlanet at #COP16Colombia. #WWFUntangled The future of our planet depends on safeguarding this biodiversity. https://lnkd.in/gbTtzwYd

Today, on Endangered Species Day, let us reflect on the urgent need to protect the planet’s most vulnerable species. 🐅🌿 This day serves as a poignant reminder of our responsibility to preserve biodiversity and ensure the survival of threatened and endangered species around the world. Each species plays a unique role in its ecosystem, and their loss can have cascading effects on environmental stability and health. Let's use this day to educate, inspire, and engage others in conservation efforts. Together, we can work towards reversing the trend of extinction and safeguard our natural heritage for future generations. 🌏 #EndangeredSpeciesDay #Biodiversity #ConservationEfforts #ProtectOurPlanet

Honoring National Endangered Species Day 🦏 As we commemorate National Endangered Species Day, we're reminded of the critical role we play in safeguarding the biodiversity that call our planet home. Biodiversity, the variety of life on Earth in all forms and interactions, thrives in healthy habitats where nature can recover after ecological disturbance. Reforestation is essential for this process. At One Tree Planted, we are proud to support the protection of endangered species by increasing forest cover, restore holistic ecosystems for a range of flora & fauna, and improve soil stability by restoring degraded areas. Take action for National Endangered Species Day - Plant a Tree for Biodiversity! 🌲 https://lnkd.in/e5NmfQKR #NationalEndangeredSpeciesDay #Conservation #Reforestation #Biodiversity

Invasive non-native species are one of the top causes of biodiversity loss worldwide. They harm native wildlife, the environment and cost the economy almost £2 billion a year. From the grey squirrel and topmouth gudgeon fish, to plants such as floating pennywort, invasive species can pose a serious threat to our ecosystem. This Invasive Non-Native Species Week, check the simple steps you can take to help stop their spread. Guidance here: https://lnkd.in/dBEjPub9 #INNSweek

🌿 Understanding the Ecological Impact of Lespedeza as an Invasive Species 🌿 Lespedeza, while valued for erosion control and forage capabilities, poses significant ecological challenges. Its rapid growth outcompetes native vegetation, disrupts local ecosystems, and reduces biodiversity. This invasive species alters soil chemistry and affects wildlife habitats, leading to long-term changes in community dynamics. At Munie Greencare Professionals, we specialize in managing invasive species like Lespedeza. Our team is dedicated to restoring natural habitats and promoting biodiversity. If you're facing challenges with Lespedeza on your property, reach out to us for effective solutions to mitigate its impact and protect our ecosystems. Together, we can make a difference! #InvasiveSpecies #Lespedeza #EcosystemHealth #Biodiversity #NativePlants #EnvironmentalRestoration #SustainableLandManagement #EcologicalImpact #Conservation #CallToAction 📸: iNaturalist

Why do you go to work? There's no clearer confirmation for my 'why' than this report. Conservation actions are effective at reducing global biodiversity loss. Nature, the environment, biodiversity. Huge topics where you can easily become despondent but major studies like this in Science Magazine show it's working. The work to conserve and protect our natural world is working. So that's why I go to work. To support Essex Wildlife Trust, The Wildlife Trusts and any individual and business doing their bit to preserve our wild world. Keep on keeping on, because it's working. #biodiversity #ESG #nature #conservation

Our Biodiversity Report describes 13 habitats, identifying their extent, the key species and the most important sites. The impact of land use change, both climate and human induced, means these habitats are under pressure like never before. If we don't protect and enhance them now, they will be lost forever. A National Park will be responsible for caring for nature – it’s our best chance of success. Many of these habitats can be found close together. In a single 20-mile walk from Ravenshall Point to Cairnsmore of Fleet it is possible to pass through them all: - Beaches and dunes - Saltmarshes - Coastal cliffs - Rivers - Lochs and ponds - Reedbeds, marshes and swamps - Bogs and fens - Semi-natural grassland - Mountain and moorland - Native woodland - Plantations and forests - Farmland - Built habitats #greatforgalloway #gallowaynationalpark #biodiversity
