Construction and contracting occupations involve some of the most diverse and risky work, which, if any accident occurs, could result in your clients being held liable for third-party injuries or property damage. Contracting and construction business owners rely on General Liability coverage to address their exposures. The GL policy is designed to help protect them in a lawsuit involving bodily injury, property damage, and products liability/completed operations. #insurancemarkets #commercialinsurance #contractorinsurance

❄️ SNOW PLOWING COVERAGE - Contractors! Standard general liability policies may have an auto exclusion, leaving snow plowing operations unprotected. A simple endorsement, like the CG 2292 can modify this exclusion and make sure you're covered. Don't risk being under insured! Make sure your policies are winter ready! #heydave #snowplowing #landscaping #construction #constructioninsurance

Do contractors need professional liability coverage? Good question. Professional liability, sometimes specifically referred to as errors & omissions coverage is usually reserved for doctors, lawyers, real estate agents, consultants and of course insurance agents. If these professionals make an error or omission when giving advice and consult and it results in damage to the their client, it can be covered. Contractors do more than just hammer nails or install plumbing. Many contractors offer advice and expertise on the design and function of the project. As contractors grow and find themselves offering more advice, it is probably worth it. Smaller contractors may not want to add more cost to each job.

A three-judge panel of the Massachusetts Appeals Court has held for the first time that “construction defects, standing alone, do not constitute property damage within the meaning of a commercial general liability policy.” https://lnkd.in/gDqviXbC

The world of insurance is never dull. Take this dramatic claim: a construction worker dies in a tragic Bobcat rollover while grading a mansion’s grounds. The claim was initially denied due to a clause excluding earth movement. After a prolonged legal battle involving an attorney, they paid over $10 million. It was a stark reminder of the unexpected twists in insurance claims and the importance of understanding your policy’s fine print. Repost this if it saved you from making the same mistake and helped you understand the importance of thoroughly reading your insurance policy. #InsuranceClaims #MansionConstruction #LegalBattle #BobcatAccident #ConstructionSiteHazards #DeniedClaims

We're no strangers to claims arising from tree root encroachment - in fact, we've been successfully defending tree root liability claims against our clients for over 20 years! In our latest case study, we take a look at some recent cases where claimants have alleged damage to property due to tree root subsidence. Our thorough investigations determined that there was no clear causation or evidence linking the damages to the insured trees, leaving the claimants no choice but to accept our denial of liability. Well done to Kelly Gill of our Casualty team for successfully defending each claim, and saving our clients tens of thousands of pounds!
