🗳️ Running for Office? It’s Time to Rethink What Community Engagement Really Means 🗳️ In every election cycle, we see candidates focus on door knocking as the key to reaching voters. But is that really the answer? True leadership is about giving back to the community and making a real difference. Imagine holding a BBQ for families, setting up a bouncy castle for the kids, or handing out turkeys in neighborhoods that need it most. Being there for the community in ways that show real care, real commitment, and real action. When I run for office, you’re going to see a different approach. No empty promises, no division – just bringing people together and making a lasting impact. Because leadership is about building up the community, not just knocking on doors. Let’s show people what true community engagement looks like. It’s time for actual change – the kind that brings people together. #CommunityFirst #RealLeadership #Unity #GivingBack #ActualChange

I am living proof that creating a sense of community doesn’t have to come from working together under the same roof. I’ve been working remotely from my home office in a small town 35 miles NW of Boston town since I started Guided Insights 30 years ago. There’s not a lot going on here, except for the occasional melodrama at Town Meeting or a stray cow 🐄 that’s blocking traffic. There are no public indoor meeting spaces where people can spontaneously gather to make those serendipitous connections where communities can be born. Building and joining communities can take a lot of time and energy. This remote worker rarely feels lonely, thanks to communities like these: 💒 The only church in town, where dozens of us came together for a veggie potluck dinner this weekend (my spicy Chinese noodles were a big hit!) 👮🏽 Our municipal government, where I do pro bono work like facilitating conversations on behalf our local police department 🏫 The town library, where I am a trustee (for the seventh year) 🌈 Our local United Way, where I have been on the board for three years 👦🏻 The Communities for Restorative Justice, where I am a volunteer facilitator for youthful offenders (for 18+ years) 👉🏻 My local Indivisible Group, which aims to make voting easier for all 🆕 Our town’s newly formed local business owners’ group 🐶 The community of dog-owners, which has a special bond ♠️ My weekly poker group, where I lose way more than I win, but the friendships and snacks still put me ahead overall 📕 My two monthly book clubs 💏 Multiple Chinese Adoptive Parents’ groups 👋🏻 My neighborhood, where I love to host events for new residents 💪🏼 My local gym 🏯 Fellow parents of the pre-school my twins attended (20+ years later, we’re still a tribe) I'd love to hear which communities you gravitate to outside of work? Which give you the most gratification? And which give you the most pleasure? (I have learned that there's not always an overlap!) #communities #communitybuilding #communityorganizing #socialgroups #creatingcommunities #commonthreads

One of the best bottom-up development initiatives anywhere in the country, to my knowledge. The fact that it’s taking place in an historically-disinvested neighborhood of considerable cultural and historic significance makes this work even more important.
Policy & Communications | HBJ 40 Under 40 | I specialize in making the complex simple: Amplifying community voices in the spaces that shape and are shaped by them
Through the facilitation of multiple community engagement sessions over the last two years, we were able to identify several recurring themes on interests, needs and sentiment around our corner of the historic Emancipation corridor. An expressed desire for accessible food and retail options with space for families (kids to seniors) to enjoy together was clear. The best way to honor residents who've been burnt out from countless studies and exercises? Keep them engaged and give them real opportunities to participate as you put their feedback into action! So here we are... preparing to launch the Market at Emancipation. A vibrant hub for economic development, cultural celebration, and community empowerment. As we continue doing the work of physical transformation, we're excited to begin having more discussions around vendors and programming. If this is your kind of carrying on, meaning A. Your org is into artistic and/or small business collaboration B. You operate a farmer's market that's bursting at the seams and want to direct some vendors to a place where they'll be loved C. You have resources to share, energy to burn or just want to come catch a vibe/take a look.... I'd love to hear from you! p.s. We're celebrating receiving a new beautification grant ( 🙌 ) so we'll have volunteer opportunities coming soon

💡 Empowering Communities Through Awareness and Connection Making an impact doesn’t require a massive budget—it starts with a simple step. As Miss Wheeling, I’m leveraging local resources and social media to raise awareness and foster community connections. By hosting events like Pen Over Punches at our park pavilion, I’m creating spaces where community members can share their struggles, support each other, and spark change. It’s not about immediate revenue—it’s about building relationships and strengthening our community from the ground up. 💬🌟 Let’s work together to show that even small actions can lead to meaningful impact. 💙 #NowMedia #MissWheeling #CommunityLeadership #PenOverPunches #ImpactfulChange #TogetherWeRise

Community Engagement Matters! Only when we challenge our community leaders with inquisitive questions about the growth and viability of our community will we continue to see the proper growth our community deserves. Each vote deserves an answer to a tough question about smart growth at the local community level. #SmartGrowth #CommunityLeadership #InquisitiveQuestions #LocalChange

While that general definition of community engagement doesn’t reflect Boomer Consulting, Inc.’s mission per se, many of the same principles and outcomes apply. In a sense, community engagement has been a guiding force and core value in the services we’ve offered from the beginning. Three areas always stand out when I consider the advantages that being part of a community brings to my life and work. https://boomer.link/d1t #cpa #accounting #community
