These days we are in Turin with Gianluca Salvatori and #JacopoSforzi, for the Steering Committee of the European project 3P4SSE supported by the Interreg Central Europe Social and Solidarity Economy - CentralEurope Network programme. This project targets regional disparities within the EU, particularly focusing on social and regional cohesion in Mediterranean and Eastern countries. Today, citizens from all over Europe have come together in Brussels to discuss Europe’s plans for a greener future! The EEB and other #RealDealEurope partners are hosting the European Citizens’ Deliberation which will allow us to improve participatory processes as well as to find out for ourselves what Europeans care about most in the context of the green transition. But what motivated people to come from all corners of Europe to join in this huge debate? They told us! 1. Andrea from Spain is here because: "Participation is important for future generations. I took part in a #CoFoE citizens panel and it was such a good experience that I keep wanting to have a say in decision-making!" 2. Gerald came from Antwerp because: "I thought it wise to take part. It is a good initiative that the EU is greening the economy. I want to share it with my hometown in Cameroon and make it global." 3. Majlinda joined us from Albania because: "I am aware of the importance of civil society in decision-making. I wanted to bring my voice to the table, but also the issues in Albania and see how we can cooperate with the next steps that the EU will take." 🌍 Spotlight on Katarzyna Sidło: Key Insights on EU-Southern Neighbourhood Relations Katarzyna Sidło, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at CASE - Center for Social and Economic Research, joined a dynamic discussion on the EU's evolving role in the Mediterranean, during the Rome MED – Dialoghi Mediterranei/Mediterranean Dialogues. Together with Gordan Grlić-Radman, Intissar Fakir, Antonio Villafranca, and Timcho Mucunski, she addressed critical questions shaping the future of this partnership, offering expertise on economic cooperation and shared priorities. The main focus points of Katarzyna’s appearance: 💡 Economic Cooperation Amid the Ukraine Conflict Katarzyna Sidło addressed concerns about the EU’s focus shifting away from the Mediterranean due to the war in Ukraine. She emphasized: - The interconnected nature of Europe’s challenges, underscoring that a stable Mediterranean is crucial for long-term EU resilience. - Opportunities to enhance trade, investment, and mutual economic support, even during a period of stretched resources. 💡 Priorities for the New EU Commission She outlined concrete steps to reinvigorate partnerships with Southern Neighbourhood countries, focusing on: - Supporting economic growth through investments in innovation, infrastructure, and education. - Collaborating on energy security, with Southern Neighbourhood countries playing a key role in the EU’s renewable energy transition. - Strengthening value chains to create a more resilient and interconnected Euro-Mediterranean economy. 📌 Katarzyna’s contributions were a powerful reminder that the Mediterranean remains a region of both strategic importance and untapped potential for the EU.

On the morning of 17 June 2024, there was the second workshop with the stakeholders of the Trentino solidarity economy to define the times and actions of the local action plan to be developed within the Interreg CE 3P4SSE project. The participants was divided into 2 groups which discussed 3 macro themes: 1 How to map new districts of the solidarity economy; 2 how to increase citizens' awareness of the solidarity economy and des; 3 how to create a Trentino solidarity economy forum. The groups shared what emerged in the working sections, outlined actions and discussed potential risks.
