The Green Imaging team has been dedicated to qualitative reporting of population health findings for years. CT scans hold a wealth of information about overall health. We are excited to announce our collaboration with new AI partners to incorporate quantitative data into various types of CT scans. This innovative approach enhances the value of exams provided by Green Imaging and offers proven methods for evaluating health indicators in groups, including critical First Responder health screenings. Adding quantitative data through low-dose CT scans is essential for individuals exposed to hazardous materials, starting at age 40. These scans can screen for lung cancer, assess lung changes, evaluate cardiovascular risk through coronary calcium measurement, analyze cardiac chamber size, determine bone density, and detect early signs of metabolic disease like fatty liver. This advancement presents a unique opportunity to enhance healthcare and elevate patient care. I was beyond thrilled and truly grateful to have had the opportunity to visit the teams at the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (https://lnkd.in/etdkBaxR). I learned so much and found myself inspired by NIDCD’s newly reimagined, broad, and cross-cutting vision to “advance the science of communication to improve lives.” Increasingly, it is clear that such a vision must be collaboratively adopted far more broadly and across multiple "vectors" if we are to fulfill the promise of precision medicine’s arc as rooted in the historicity of information technologies and the role of computation and data sharing networks. It's a narrative arc with all the requisite “semantic embeddings” already there in its origin story in the early and mid 1900s' "systems for the transmission of intelligence”—later refined as Shannon’s “mathematical theory of communication” and the invention of the “bit” as a foundational unit of measure for information. It is also no coincidence that this “languaging” of communication/information ultimately became inextricably enmeshed in the subsequent biological narratives of DNA as “code”; RNA as a “messenger” undergoing “transcription” and “translation”; and the associated regulatory machinery as protein “readers, writers, and erasers” coordinating cellular “signal transduction” through “transmitters” and “receptors.” For many of us whose individual research arc began in the era of big data biology and its intertwining with the emergence of the internet, scaled computation, and the cloud, it is with no shortage of barely concealed anticipation that over the past few years we’ve come to recognize that such historicity was but a harbinger of the upcoming scientific revolution in the age of artificial intelligence and healthcare’s transformation through advancements poised to accelerate the fulfillment and patient impact of the promise of precision medicine’s narrative arc in ways that unexpectedly come back nearly full circle to its historical origins via applications such as large-language models, generative AI, and real-time data sharing, exchanges, and communication networks. #NIDCD #KidsFirst #INCLUDE #CHOP #NIH #CBTN
You don't want to miss this NIH Article! Dr. Adam Resnick, director of the Center for Data-Driven Discovery in Biomedicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), discusses Data Sharing Platforms for Precision Care. “This is where precision medicine thrives,” Resnick said. Often, “the analysis happens in the doctor’s head based on what they know and remember and have experienced. Precision medicine requires that next layer of interactions between that patient’s data, which is suddenly more complex and multimodal. Part of it is not interpretable [now] but might be tomorrow when the next patient comes along and looks like that patient.” Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/etdkBaxR
