By grace, I chanced upon this homily on the Importance of Reconciliation. Cardinal Goh's message of reconciliation is both timely and essential. His words serve as a powerful reminder that humans are fallible, often making mistakes that lead to hurt feelings, misunderstandings, and fractured relationships. Whether in personal interactions, families or within organizations, the consequences of unresolved conflict can be severe. Walls are erected, isolation sets in, and fragmentation hinders progress. The only path towards healing and unity lies in reconciliation. Reconciliation is the only way to overcome these divisions. It requires a conscious effort to move beyond blame and towards forgiveness. This allows individuals and groups to come together with a shared purpose. Crucially, the success of reconciliation hinges on both parties' willingness to reconcile and their shared love for the Lord. This foundation fosters a spirit of understanding and forgiveness. It can be difficult, especially when hurt runs deep. Cardinal Goh emphasises the transformative power of shared faith in facilitating healing and restoring relationships. Organizations that fail to foster reconciliation risk their very existence. Without a commitment to forgiveness and unity, fragments will fester, leading to dysfunction and ultimately, failure. Reconciliation is a uniquely human endeavor. AI, for all its advancements, cannot replicate the empathy, understanding, and compassion needed to heal wounds and rebuild trust.
