PARTNERSHIPS 🤝 | Karel de Grote Hogeschool x See Tickets We’re proud to highlight our long-standing collaboration with Karel de Grote Hogeschool, where we recently sponsored their ‘Next Live event’ This initiative gave first-year event management students an exciting behind-the-scenes look into the world of ticketing, while supporting an event they organized themselves. 🎟️ As part of our partnership, we provided students with the Paylogic platform to sell tickets for their project week event, and introduced them to the key aspects of ticketing, from setup to customer experience. It’s always inspiring to see the next generation of event professionals in action! In addition to this, we’ve welcomed many talented interns from Karel de Grote over the years and have shared our expertise through keynotes on event management, ticketing, and stress management. We look forward to continuing this partnership and welcoming many more interns in the future. Want to join us? Check out our openings here: https://lnkd.in/evuGqTrz 💼 We also want to thank the students of Karel de Grote Hogeschool for the thank-you video they sent us. You can watch it below. 👀 Exciting things ahead! 🚀 #Partnership #EventManagement #Ticketing #NextGenerationEvents #ItStartsWithATicket

When Ticketmaster guest speakers joined us to share their stories, one message stood out: Get involved, stay adaptable and say yes to opportunities! Hearing from their team about managing 500 million annual ticket sales, operating in 37 countries, having over 1 billion website visitors and delivering 370+ events this summer alone, it’s clear that behind every incredible event is a hardworking, adaptable team. Scott Pountney, Head of Event Delivery (UK) Jon Hancock, Director of Field Operations Claire Howarth, Client Account Manager Chloe Churchill, Client Support Assistant Employers value adaptability and experience over perfection. Whether it’s volunteering, interning, or taking on part-time roles, every opportunity builds the skills and confidence you’ll need in the future. Hearing about the fast-paced world of live events reminded us that success isn’t just about talent, it’s about showing up, learning on the go, and embracing challenges. Thanks to the team at Ticketmaster for showing us that behind every great event is a group of passionate people who make the magic happen and I hope one day I can get involved! Celebrating 2 Years of Event Magic! Exactly two years ago on 15 November 2022, I embarked on an incredible journey with International Conference & Exhibition Professionals (iCEP) and what a ride it has been! Event management is more than just parties and glitz. It is about crafting experiences, building relationships, and pushing boundaries. It is a world of endless possibilities, and I am so grateful to have found my passion here. For those of you considering a career in event or project management, here are a few tips: 1) Master the Art of Organization: Microsoft Excel is a must-have skill! 2) Build Strong Bonds: Trust is the foundation of successful teamwork. 3) Listen Actively: Understand the needs and expectations of your clients and team. 4) Treat Others with Respect: A positive attitude goes a long way. 5)Dare to Be Different: Don't be afraid to think outside the box. While this chapter may be temporary, I am forever grateful for the experiences and lessons I have gained at iCEP, especially the Exhibition Operations team. Here is to many more years of creating unforgettable events! #graduatetips #eventmanagement #projectmanagement #careerjourney #iCEP #thankful #exhibitionmanagement #onsitemanagement

What a week! My first IMEX did not disappoint. Here's a round-up of my experience... 💡 Learnings IMEX's dedication to learning is so strong they dedicated an entire hall to it. Moderating panels and sessions with speakers who have been breaking the mold on innovation and sustainability in events for decades was inspiring, to say the least. They recognize their impact, understand it's an imperfect journey, and know the only way to survive in this industry is to integrate sustainability into everything they do. As a facilitator first, I wondered if I could integrate my values—collective wisdom, growing ideas together, co-creation—into moderation. At the start of the week, I faced a steep learning curve. The restrictive formats of some sessions seemed to limit my playful facilitation side. However, by the end of the week, I broke through my limiting beliefs and found myself back in my playful, impromptu flow. 🤝 Connection It is incredible to witness just how much business is being done at IMEX. There is a side to IMEX which is sales. Yet, all of the connections I made during the week felt so genuine, open, and generative. It’s the first time I found so much ease in networking. And of course, time spent in long talks with my fellow moderators Jan-Jaap and Maciej and facilitation friend Thomas was priceless. 🛌 Rest Before heading off to IMEX, I was cautious about the intensity of the networking and space. What I loved about this week was the emphasis on the need for rest. In the learning hall especially there was space to rest, to be creative, to play. I also saw many attendees being intentional and vocal about their need to recharge. It was a powerful reminder that taking care of ourselves is crucial, even in high-energy environments like IMEX. Thank you to all those I met during the week - I've come back rejuvenated and already looking forward to my next moderating gig. Curious to read more about rest during high-intensity social events? No one likes a bubble burster! But sometimes, that's exactly what I have to be. My favorite parts of client meetings, especially initial calls with the entire team, is the true outside-the-box thinking and ideation. The pie-in-the-sky, "no-way-we-could-pull-it-off-but..." suggestions. When it comes time for execution, I have to get my proverbial pin out, and ask questions about the reality of bringing these ideas to life. I have to ask questions like: "How will this affect our budget?" "Who can we partner with to get this done?" "How does this idea align with our specific goals and objectives for this event, or the organization as a whole?" "Do we have time within the confines of our conference to add an offsite excursion?" "How many vehicles will we need to transport the group?" "Will we need permits/licenses/permission/a police escort for this activity?" There are some ideas that reality will push to the side, whether it's because of budget, location, resources, or timing...or, something completely out of our control. Most of the time though, those questions lead to a real discussion about the feasibility of an idea, and I help to bring the idea to life before the Client's very eyes! Remember: our job as event planners is to bring your ideas to life! It's our job to ask the hard questions to make sure that your vision can be realized, exactly as you pictured.

I was recently asked to write up my bio for The International Center for Future Generations - ICFG’s website and I thought long and hard about it. What does an events manager do exactly? It’s not just about finding a good events space, nor getting a decent caterer. Neither is it all about designing attractive events graphics, reaching maximum registrations for the event, nor making sure an event goes without a hiccup. Don’t get me wrong - it’s ALL that, and more. Events can be great platforms to communicate ideas, engage stakeholders and convey key messages. This makes the people who do events more than just somebody collating the registrations. At the core of it, we are policy communicators who are simply doing the work through the events we plan. So, to my fellow events comrades, it’s time to rethink our roles, because we are more than just glorified ushers. #thoughtoftheday
