🌊 Eastern Pacific Shipping makes first wind propulsion move with bound4blue eSAILs 🌊 Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. has signed a contract for its first ever wind-assisted propulsion system, partnering with bound4blue to install three 22-metre eSAILs onboard the Pacific Sentinel. The turnkey ‘suction sail’ technology will be fitted later this year, helping the 183-metre, 50,000 DWT oil and chemical tanker reduce overall energy consumption by approximately 10%, depending on vessel routing. bound4blue is gaining significant industry traction for its fully autonomous eSAIL technology, with this latest agreement following similar contracts recently. Suitable for both newbuilds and retrofit projects, the system delivers energy efficiency and cost savings for a broad range of vessels, regardless of their size and age. Another successful FAT completed for #DIVETurbine in Amorbach, Germany! An in-depth factory acceptance test (#FAT) with the representative of the client (in this case EnBW) is usually the final step before the #DIVETurbine goes on to the road. Before that a complete factory assembly and testing of the Turbine-Generator-Unit and pitch-able guide vanes is performed for all our turbines. Our units are both water-tight and pressure-tight, ensuring flood security from the start, without the need for sealing maintenance. These DIVE-Turbine is for a new project in the south west of Germany, located near Autobahn A5 exit Herbolzheim. The DIVE-Turbine will be integrated in a completely new fish pass for upstream migration and a new fine screen with bypass for downstream migration. Furthermore, with the speed variable turbine runner and only three runner blades the risk for the small fish going through the turbine is absolutely minimal. Therefore, the new project secures safe up- and downstream migration for the local fish population and represent a true ecological improvement, plus it generates reliable baseload renewable energy.
