With Self’s partnership with iHeartRadio and The Breakfast Club, Self was invited to the 4th Annual Mental Wealth Expo in NYC, hosted by Charlamagne Tha God.
Our team connected with incredible attendees and customers while showcasing our “Self Love - Get the Credit You Deserve” activation. Self’s Head of Community Monique White and accredited financial counselor and financial therapist, Rahkim Sabree, AFC® also led a breakout session on “The Impact Finances Have on Mental Health In The Black Community”.
A big thank you to the iHeartRadio team for bringing our ideas to life at the event.

Politics and therapy: two things that seem separate but really aren’t. In this episode, we talk about why therapy is never neutral, how therapists’ political views affect their work, and why advocating for change is just part of the gig.
Therapy isn’t a bubble, and politics can’t be left outside the door.
-role of politics in mental health work
-ethics of self-disclosure
-pressures therapists face in politically charged times
From fees to systemic advocacy, we explore how therapeutic neutrality is outdated and why therapists need to embrace their political awareness for better client care.
Whether you’re a therapist or a client, we’ve got some real talk and tips on navigating the messiness of politics in therapy.

🌟 Why Are Parents in the US So Stressed Out? 🌟
From financial pressure to work demands and the constant fear of school shootings, parents are feeling overwhelmed like never before. As Kelsey Butler's powerful article on Bloomberg highlights, US parents are navigating an increasingly challenging landscape. The recent advisory by the US Surgeon General on the mental health of caregivers confirms what so many parents are already experiencing: chronic stress, compounded by a lack of systemic support.
At LunaJoy, we see this every day. Our CEO, Dr. Sipra Laddha, is featured in this important piece, emphasizing that while acknowledgment is a crucial first step, action is essential. She advocates for accelerating change in how our country supports mental health—especially for caregivers.
LunaJoy is here to help alleviate some of that burden. We offer flexible, virtual mental health care, providing personalized support for parents when they need it most.

Thoughts on Last Night’s #MoreLightsabers Event
First, my deepest gratitude to everyone who came out. Your presence showed care for Reese and commitment to healing, inclusion, and mental health awareness. The heart and compassion we shared were powerful.
It’s unfortunate that Reese couldn’t join. After encouragement, he shared he was afraid of the police. Later, he was informed that a restraining order from @Waverlycardiff ’s GM prevented him from attending. While I take safety seriously, the timing was disappointing that Reese was prevented from attending his own celebration. Still, I want to acknowledge Reese’s bravery—his spirit was with us.
Upon arrival, the security presence and armed guards with tasers created tension. Waverly’s Investor and Director of Operations, had expressed interest in aligning with healing, mental health awareness and inclusion, but the night felt focused more on the past than moving forward. A participant noted that their approach was “unreasonable and unloving,” which hurt to hear.
The most powerful moment was when a young boy named Miles, who has Autism, unexpectedly shared his experience of feeling different and his love for Star Wars. His bravery embodied the heart of why we gathered—to listen, understand, and stand in solidarity with those who feel unseen.
Unfortunately, Waverly’s focus on blame overshadowed the opportunity for growth. Even more heartbreaking, Reese is being removed from our community. This shouldn’t happen to someone who simply needed inclusion and support.
We gathered to support Reese, advocate for mental health, and create healing. This is about building a community that celebrates differences and extends compassion.
Let’s continue advocating for Reese and others who feel marginalized. Together, we’re standing for something bigger—compassion, inclusion, and mental health awareness - the #cardiffway .
If you were there or this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
With gratitude & a heart for healing, Neal

I know what's it's like to be a busy parent, a grieving parent, and a stressed out parent doing her best to keep it all together. But I have no idea what it's like to be a solo or single parent.
I can only imagine how difficult it must be to manage all the mental, financial, and physical demands alone.
My *journorequest for this week for an upcoming story:
I would love to speak with any one of the following:
-a family therapist
-a financial planner or
-social worker
...or anyone who can share insights about the differences between solo and single parenting and provide nuanced perspectives on what unique and specific challenges each demographic faces.
Would love to speak with someone this week.
Thanks in advance for anyone who can amplify or share this request.

A must listen ~ not *just* coz it's meeee!👂 😁
I'm also speaking at The Jordan Legacy CIC ##JoinTheDots tour on 12th June at the launch of the tour conference!!!
One of the reasons I am a resilience consultant & motivational speaker, is because suicide prevention is on all of us!
We each have a role to play.
By raising awareness, speaking up, and speaking out, we encourage others to.
Other people can relate to those of us, like me with lived experience.
Because mental illness isn't a personal failure...but how some people are feeling they may not want to talk about it.
So if you haven't heard from a friend for a while, or someone seems somehow 'not themselves' but you can't put your finger on it....don't wait! Send them a text, invite them for a coffee, ask them if they are okay....and here's the crucial part...
If they say they're fine, they're okay or something like that, but you feel that maybe they're not....ask them again. And listen, really listen if they open up to you, never judge or offer to 'fix a problem'.
There are many resources you can on Jordan Legacy website or Rural Mental Health Matters Limited Hub of Hope, where you can search for support (UK) by topic, postcode etc: https://lnkd.in/eZPAmj8X
There's also mental health training available, if you want to feel more confident in having those conversations: https://lnkd.in/ecQK2x66#SuicidePrevention#SuicideAwareness#MentalHealthMatters
