🤝 Last week, #Biocat launched the Advanced Therapies Network of Catalonia, a project starting with 4️⃣5️⃣ companies and entities committed to driving #research and development of new treatments. This initiative will promote #innovation, accelerating the arrival of advanced therapies to patients and positioning the #BioRegionCatalonia as a global reference in this field 📍. 🚀 This project is the result of the Government of Catalonia's (Generalitat de Catalunya) commission to #Biocat in 2022 to identify and align public and private agents in the #BioRegion, with the aim of ensuring the value chain for the development of advanced technologies, from their creation to market access and the #health system. 🌱 Plan d'aide bio et Plan Ambition Bio : des avancées, mais des attentes persistantes 🌱 Hier, le ministre de l'Agriculture a annoncé une augmentation du fonds d'urgence bio et le lancement du Plan Ambition Bio 2027. Cependant, la filière bio déplore des financements insuffisants et l'absence d'objectifs précis. 🔹 Plan d'aide bio : Un plan qui inclut plus de fermes, mais le financement reste en deçà des besoins réels. 🔹 Plan Ambition Bio : Le plan ne fixe pas d'objectifs clairs ni de mesures pour assurer la pérennité des fermes bio. La FNAB rappelle l'importance cruciale de soutenir l'agriculture biologique pour la transition écologique, et demande : 1️⃣ Un abondement des aides selon les besoins réels. 2️⃣ Des moyens financiers en adéquation avec la définition d'objectifs clairs concernant le Plan Ambition Bio. Here are some key highlights: 🚀 1,400 companies and 91 research entities make up Catalonia’s #lifesciences and #healthcare sector, emerging as a key catalyst for innovation, economic and social advancement. 💰 Despite the global geopolitical, financial and economic context, the investment has declined but remains above €200 M. 🏥 In 2023, 88.5% of all #clinicaltrials in Spain were conducted in Catalonia, which places it 5th in Europe and 8th in the world. We're proud to contribute to this achievement through our #CARxALL trial for T-ALL. 🔬 In terms of patent applications for #advancedtherapies, Catalonia's contribution is notable, with 30 international patents filed during 2013-2022. #OneChain is among those seeking these inventions. Thank you EuropaBio - the European Association for Bioindustries and Claire Skentelbery for organizing today’s webinar and interesting panel discussion focusing on the impact of the #EU’s General Pharma Legislation on Europe’s innovation ecosystem. While Europe has a strong scientific base, European investment in innovation is falling behind other regions. It is important for innovators to have strong predictability of IP incentives, reducing baseline incentives will reduce investment in Europe, especially in the rare disease area and the need to develop novel technologies! Also, thank you Wojciech Nowak, MA, IMD EMBA for highlighting that despite #EU’s historical strengths, we need to consider global dynamics (in particular having a look at #clinicaltrials) when it comes to the future role of Europe in the global innovation ecosystem next to US and China. We need legislation that empowers innovation, gives certainty to innovators and allows Europe to be an attractive launch market. #innovation #rarediseases #noveltherapies #bioetchecosystem
