Raising Global Citizens: Why We Prioritize Travel with Our Kids As parents, we've always believed in the importance of global travel for our children. We made it a point to get both Kennedi and Caden their passports by their first birthday, and we've been exploring the world together ever since! This photo was taken in 2015 when we spent Christmas Day on Grand Bahama Island. It was an unforgettable experience, and we're grateful to have shared it with our little ones. Exposing children to global travel early in life has numerous benefits. Here are three reasons why: 1. Broadens Perspective: Travel helps children develop a broader understanding of the world, its cultures, and its people. It fosters empathy, tolerance, and openness to new experiences. 2. Enhances Education: Global travel provides hands-on learning opportunities that complement classroom education. Children can experience history, geography, and languages in a real-world context. 3. Builds Confidence and Adaptability: Traveling to new places helps children develop resilience, adaptability, and confidence. They learn to navigate unfamiliar environments, try new foods, and interact with people from diverse backgrounds. By prioritizing global travel with our kids, we're raising them to be curious, empathetic, and open-minded individuals who are equipped to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. #GlobalCitizens #FamilyTravel #RaisingExplorers"

🌍 Staying Connected Across Oceans: Tips for Expats and Young Families 🌍 For many expats, especially those with young families, maintaining close ties with loved ones back home can be incredibly challenging. Balancing the demands of an intense job, navigating an unfamiliar culture, and possibly even learning a new language—all while raising young children—can make it hard to keep up with family relationships across the ocean. Here are some tips that can help bridge the distance: Schedule Regular Video Calls 📱: Whether it’s a weekly chat or spontaneous video drop-ins, making time for virtual face-to-face connections can help maintain strong bonds. Share Everyday Moments 📸: Don’t wait for big milestones. Sending pictures or short videos of daily life—whether it’s a new park you discovered or your child’s latest artwork—can make distant relatives feel involved in your family’s life. Create Family Rituals 📅: Establish a shared activity, like reading the same bedtime story over video calls or celebrating holidays together virtually. Even a simple monthly family quiz night can build deeper connections. Utilize Shared Digital Spaces 🌐: Set up a shared family photo album, message group, or even a private blog to keep everyone updated and involved. Plan Visits and Countdown Together ✈️: Even if it’s far off, counting down to the next family visit can be exciting for everyone, especially young kids who can have something concrete to look forward to. While living abroad offers incredible experiences, it’s the connections with family back home that often keep us grounded. #ExpatLife #FamilyConnections #GlobalLiving #YoungFamilies ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking for a crash course on the financial impact of living abroad as an American? It's 100% worth taking your kids out of school to travel. So many parents plan trips around Christmas & Spring breaks. Those are terrible times to travel. Why? Because everyone else is. There's no deals then (or they're hard to find). I know the front desk lady at your child's school is judgy. I know the teachers will be mad. I get it's hard. But your kid will learn a lot more from a week in Italy than they will in a classroom, I guarantee it. Travel will be the best classroom they've ever experienced. I missed 8 days of high school for an Italy trip - I still graduated top 10% in my class. My sister missed 2 weeks of 8th grade for an Africa trip, she had a life-changing experience. Your. kids. will. be. fine. When the whole year is available for travel, you can: ▶️ Snag the best deals. ▶️ Travel during shoulder season. ▶️ Avoid large crowds. & so much more. Don't let school schedules get in the way of your child's education. 📸 : Ian & I missing high school to actually learn.
