We at Serendipity are incredibly grateful for the fantastic organization of the recent event with Žaliosios savivaldybės / Green Municipalities (Romualdas Petraitis and Christopher Aguilar). It was a remarkable opportunity to share insights and learn from each other. Here are some key takeaways I took: 🌱 Innovation in Digitalization and Green Solutions can be expensive, however they are investments that will pay off in the long run (Teresė Škutaitė). 🌍Sustainability is a long road with very concrete benefits. It’s essential to stay committed to this journey for the betterment of our planet (Anton Nikitin). 🤝Joint Efforts from Multiple Communities: Collaboration is key. By sharing best practices, replicating successful solutions, and raising awareness, we can involve society and drive meaningful change (Andrius Bagdonas) 📊In today’s world, data is crucial for advancing new technologies and making evidence-based decisions (Vadimas Ivanovas). It’s inspiring to see all the efforts being made in Lithuania towards these goals. Let’s continue to work together and make a positive impact!

🌍✨ Yesterday, 05 June 2024, I had the privilege of attending the National Trade Delegation from Slovenia to Rotterdam event at BlueCity (010). It was an incredible experience, filled with enriching conversations and connections with a diverse group of individuals, including mayors, politicians, investors, professors from universities, and professionals with decades of experience in the circular built environment, energy, and food sectors from both the Netherlands and Slovenia. The whole stakeholder community was gathered in one place for 11 hours, creating a unique atmosphere of collaboration and innovation. The openness and willingness to share experiences, advice, and feedback were truly inspiring. The delegates' commitment to radical collaboration and their journey mirrored the challenges we face today, making their insights invaluable. The presentations and storytelling sessions were enlightening, offering practical solutions to the struggles we encounter. I am thrilled by the enthusiastic responses and the many "yes in principle" agreements and interests for collaboration. This event has not only deepened our connections but also strengthened our resolve to drive systemic and disruptive change in the market to address the climate-housing crisis. It is tough, and we need tough people who dare to change. A special thanks to the Slovene Dutch Business Platform - SDBP and Holland Circular Hotspot for providing the opportunity for connection, communication, and radical collaboration. Additionally, I would like to acknowledge the representatives from EIT initiatives such as EIT Climate-KIC, our angel investor, and EIT New European Bauhaus for their invaluable contributions. Together, we pave the way towards sustainable solutions and even the ambitious goal of building Lunar Habitats. Here’s to continued collaboration and innovation! 🚀 Space Business Innovation Centre Noordwijk #CircularEconomy #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateAction #HousingCrisis #Innovation #Collaboration #BlueCityRotterdam #SloveniaNetherlands #LunarHabitats #FutureForward

Neighbourhoods should be made for people, and that is why they should also have a saying🗣️ While #citizen engagement is an essential process, it is not an obvious one. As part of the #drOp project, a co-governance model was developed, to support municipalities in implementing a successful #disctrictrenovation🏘️ While waiting for the full document to be released, we invite you to explore this concept through a dedicated infographic🔎 ➡️https://lnkd.in/eRh58xzt Materahub, Ayuntamiento de Ermua, TECNALIA Research & Innovation, Housing Europe, Estonian Union of Housing Associations EKYL, Mondragon Unibertsitatea

🌋 🌀 🏝 2014-2024 : Island of challenges, island of solutions - 10 years of Smart specialization in #LaReunion In 2013, the European Union placed research and innovation at the heart of its regional policy & asked all European regions to develop their smart specialization strategy (#S3). S3 aim to [prioritize public investments in research and innovation through a bottom-up approach, in order to economically transform regions by leveraging regional competitive advantages and facilitating commercial opportunities in new interregional & European value chains. This approach allowed to share a territorial diagnosis revealing the #vulnerability of 🇷🇪 La Réunion's economic model & build a resilient economic transformation program aiming to create new sources of activities & jobs, based on : - Differentiation, by valuing the unique knowledge of the territory - Concentration on regional competitive advantages - Building critical masses in key domains - Detecting opportunities through continuous dialogue among local actors - Integration into global value chains - Diversification of the economy In 2014, the S3 of La Réunion was born, and aims to make the territory a Knowledge&Innovation center for #islandResilience for a resilient society. The S3 is based on a #paradigmshift that turns the island constraints into singularities, sources of differentiation, & on the mobilization of the territory's talents to build innovative solutions that address local challenges & meet the needs of external markets. In 2019, Nexa launched the evaluation & revision of the Strategy to prepare the 2021-2027 period. Through 93 b2b with key stakeholders & entrepreneurs, 40 workshops with 190 participants from 60 organizations, we: 🚦 produced a solid diagnosis of the regional system performance (a comparative study with EU regions, a sectorial analysis, an evaluation of the ERDF impacts) 🚀 developed a place-based roadmap to boost its performance and internationalisation 💚 established 8 thematic communities of practitionners (researchers, policymakers, citizens, entrepreneurs) united around ambitious R&I targets This immense and stimulating work was adopted by #RegionReunion in 2022 through the Social and Sustainable Smart Specialization Strategy #S5. https://lnkd.in/gpDi7PiE 🎂 Happy anniversary to all the community who have put their hearts into ensuring the sustainability of La Réunion and the resilience of its inhabitants & to the successive presidents of the Regional Committee for Innovation: Guy Dupont Philippe Jean-pierre Maya Cesari Congratulations to Nexa’s Team Véronique Stern Véronique Leung and a special 👏 to Philippe Holstein who handled it in a remarkable way!

Today 150+ Estonian business leaders were in the room together with the elephant in the room at #elevanttoas conference on sustainable economy models for Estonia and the world. We were facing the elephant too! Leading multistakholder movement Rohetiiger (Green Tiger) and major business media Äripäev run the trilogy of conferences since last year: 2023 was for THEORY, this 2024 is for PRACTICES and 2025 will be for EXECUTION. Some thoughts on stage about "sustainable economy practices" are more generic, but some stand out with vision and clarity. We see joint challenges, but different solutions. 1. It starts from energy. And comes down to energy. Some think it must be renewable, and Estonia has lost 10+ years compared to the world. Others think that (too quick) transformation to renewables reduces our competitiveness. 2. Innovation, especially implementing innovation is crucial. Linking science and business. Some think it must come from startups and new business models which adress sustainable development needs. More impact, more return. Others think that traditional business must change, and none of countries have become rich without industrialization. 3. Our global competitiveness must be ensured. Some say we should not be holier than Pope in adopting RU sustainability agenda. Others say EU soon laga behind, US businesses have done massive investments to rely on renewables, and one President will not change the movement. And motivation for China and India for fossile>renewable transition sits in a need for clean air in their huge cities. 4. In the end it's about smart and sharp people. Some focus on education and progressive youth. Others want to see current environmentalist and businesses not being at two different ends of the tunnel. 5. Reporting needs expand. Some see that regulation stops innovation. Others say we must see opportunities in that. Because reporting is cheap and easy compared to major shifts towards business opportunities and adaptation to risks needed in practice. ----- But one seems clear. We must take risks. No hope for reward otherwise. #elevanttoas #tasakaalusmajandus
