Our latest article focuses on a critical aspect of building fire safety systems - the operation of pressurisation systems during simultaneous evacuation. We believe that constructive discussions are necessary to improve the existing systems and address their limitations. By identifying the challenges faced by traditional systems during simultaneous evacuation, we aim to encourage engineers to design smoke protection that can eliminate these issues and ensure the safety of building occupants. Internal vs External Duct Fire Protection 🤔 What is the difference? Ventilation ducts are subject to fire stopping requirements as described in AS1668.1 and AS1530.4 Section 9. These Australian standards break down methods of protection into two categories, ‘internal fire protection’, and ‘external fire protection’. What is Passive Fire Protection? 🔥 At LKK Solution Services, we're experts in passive fire protection (PFP). But what exactly is PFP, and why is it crucial for your building's safety? PFP refers to built-in measures that slow the spread of fire without active intervention. These include fire-resistant walls, floors, and doors, as well as protective coatings for structural elements. Key benefits of PFP: -Containment of fire and smoke -Extended evacuation time -Reduced property damage -Enhanced structural integrity Want to learn more about how PFP can safeguard your property? 🚒 Understanding Passive Fire Protection (PFP) 🚒 Do you know that most large buildings were not designed with Passive Fire Protection to todays standards? But what exactly is PFP? ➡️ PFP is a key component of any building's fire safety strategy. It involves the use of materials and products that prevent or slow the spread of fire and smoke from one area to another. This approach is about containment and compartmentalisation – creating safe zones and allowing precious time for evacuation. Want to learn more about how PFP can protect you and your properties? We are all over the place with fire department connection signage but thought this was interesting. Indicates the location, good, but the 1500gpm is troubling, as the design max flow in a combined system would be 1000gpm and the inlets are size for that max of 1000gpm. Possibly incorrectly identifying a 1500gpm pump? That makes me also question the signage pressure. Pre-plan your buildings and understand the fire protection design before the emergency is critical to a successful event. #fastestwater #standpipes #firefighter #fireservice #firedepartment NFSA NFPA
