Providing Equal Access to Education for All Globally, the youth literacy rate increased from 83 percent to 91 percent over two decades, while the number of illiterate youths declined from 170 million to 115 million. Regional and gender disparities persist, however. Literacy is lowest in the least developed countries and higher among males than females Donate Us: https://lnkd.in/gey3eAdV #sponsorforchild, #donatefororphan, #childeducation, #ngochildeducation, #donateforeducation, #girlchildeducation, #sponsorforpoorchild, #sponsororphanage #sponsororphanchild, #charity, #educationforchild, #seruds, #kurnool https://lnkd.in/g6ZGvUev

Can anyone connect me with someone who runs an educational charity or nonprofit that is not actually a school, that is successfully set up as an eligible body, so that it does not need to charge VAT on its sales of education? Growing pains at www.p4he.org mean that we need to look at converting to non-profit status or we will have to start charging parents VAT for our online courses and residentials, which will really hit affordability. The organisation would be a perfectly legitimate non-profit as we do great work with underserved children who are home-educated, gifted, neurodiverse and sometimes all three, and everyone involved goes beyond what we're reasonably paid to do. However, from experience as a trustee at another organisation, the precise wording of the documents establishing the organisation are more important to the VAT man than the reality of the work you're doing. I'll take legal advice as well, and hope to find out exactly what Labour are doing to make sure we wouldn't be collateral damage in the move against private schools, but would be great to speak to someone who has got it right.

This year, I'm fundraising for the EDUCATION & HEALTH of children in Colombia and Honduras. This campaign is focused on young orphan children at risk of under-nutrition, physical abuse and lack of education, factors that make them very vulnerable to children trafficking and social exclusion. Today, there are over 1,600,000 orphan children in Latin America. Even with a small donation, you can have a positive impact! It takes $39 a month to change the life of one of these children in Colombia or Honduras — roughly $500 per year. The break down of this is as follows: $20.00 = Shoes $20.00 = Textbooks/workbooks $50.00 = School uniform $60.00 = Miscellaneous $100.00 = Healthcare $100.00 = Living expenses $150.00 = School fees If you'd like to participate in this campaign, visit this link https://lnkd.in/dHaWAX-4 and please share it with your contacts! ❤️ Also, if you're an employee from companies that do corporate gift matching, they will match your donations so this campaign may receive twice as much! Contact me if you're interested or have any inquires! 🙌 #fundraising #orphanchildren #philantrophy #benevity #donatenow #corporatematching #nonprofit #crowdfunding #giveback #childreneducation #humantrafficking

Today, the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) publishes a new report titled ‘Embracing Diversity in all its Forms’: The Voluntary Secondary Sector in Irish Education, by Selina McCoy, Eamonn Carroll and Keyu Ye. Voluntary secondary schools, accounting for over half of all second-level schools, are privately owned and managed but are largely publicly funded schools, usually under the patronage of a religious community, a charitable trust or a private charitable company. 🏫 Students, regardless of attending single-sex or coeducational schools, favoured coeducational settings 📚 Gender differences persist in the subjects available to students, subject choice, and if subjects are perceived as interesting or difficult. 🗣 Only a small minority of students find learning Irish interesting, raising implications for the national language. 📊 Life satisfaction levels also varied widely, being somewhat lower among girls, students with additional needs and those from economically vulnerable families. Introducing The Bariga School Project! One of the common issues among children in Bariga is that they lack continuity in education. After primary school, many children opt out of school to hawk, learn a trade or stay at home. After our first mentorship program in 2022, three (3) girls approached me with the desire to drop-out of school after their common entrance exams to learn a trade. We talked about the importance of education in one’s life, and pleaded with them to attend the mentorship programs before making a decision. A few months into the program, one of them returned with tears welling up in her eyes that she’s persuaded now and would like to continue her education but her mother told her she had to drop-out so her younger siblings could continue. This was one of the reasons we started the scholarship program called ‘The Bariga School Project’ to help children from Bariga have access to quality education. Through this program, we’ve given scholarships to Twenty (20) children in Bariga and One (1) outside Bariga. Our goal is to enroll at least 100 children by 2025 We need your support to make this vision possible for these children. 📌 Here are few ways you can be a part of this cause: * You can partner with us financially if you’re passionate about providing equitable access to children from low-income communities * You can enroll a child in school * You can speak to someone within your network about New Life and The Bariga Projects * You can volunteer to be a part of the work we are doing * Donate educational materials to support the project 👉🏽 PS - This video was done in preparation for school resumption. #20daylinkedinchallengewithhaoma #everychildmatters #sdg4 #education

Despite some noises in the media, going to university continues to be a brilliant option for the vast majority of people. Higher education transforms lives for the better and graduate outcomes remain strong! As we are coming to the end of results day, I just want to reflect on some of the unsung heroes who are supporting those from less advantaged backgrounds access university - namely those charities who either have the mission to enable widening participation, or who support specific disadvantaged groups. At the UPP Foundation we have been lucky enough to support and fund some of these organisations. They include: The Brilliant Club, Villiers Park Educational Trust and The Access Project who do great work on fair access to university for those from poorer backgrounds. Get Further who provide tutoring in English and Maths to those retaking their GCSEs - vital to enable people to progress with their education, including access to university. National Network for the Education of Care Leavers and Become who do sterling work to support those who have experienced care go to and succeed at university. Unlock - for people with criminal records who provide a second chance for those who have criminal records - including access to HE. There are many other fabulous charities and civil society groups who we have not yet been lucky enough to fund and support, but on behalf of the UPP Foundation I want to say a big thank you to everyone who works or volunteers as mentors/tutors for these vital organisations - you make a real difference! #resultsday #university #wideningparticipation #highereducation

There needs be a change. Soon. As a parent to a 3-year-old I am dreading sending him to school due to the impending pressure and expectations that will be put on him. When will children allowed to be children? No wonder children aren’t potty trained and can’t listen or sit. They’re made to relentlessly learn under a specific style instead. We need to look at and learn from nations that have pushed early years educational ethos back to the age of 7. Let children learn at their pace, in their style, starting with the basics for as long as they need. https://lnkd.in/eyH8ffQA

Heads and Schools need to unite to input into how best to make our education sector serve the needy. This is a whole sector issue and not just a private school issue. #parentsupinarms #schoolsupinarms #headsupinarms #education #charity
