I've survived....well a few hours to go until I've survived the week!!!! First full week back from paternity leave has gone pretty well. New routine is being adapted to and Cúan is being good as gold - apart from a slightly unsettled night last night😴🥱- when I finish work a cuddle on the sofa is a locked in part of the routine!! The job market still ticks along, some firms definitely trying their best to use up headcount before the end of the week and others that are at least getting the search started as we head into bonus season and the natural movement at that time of year. I hope this makes sense. In the past 36 hours, I've worked 20 hours and have had about 30 minutes sleep (closed the store last night and opened this morning with about 7 hours between shifts; my brain takes about 2 - 3 hours to truly shut off to the point of being able to relax and sleep). Consultant - Contractor - Staff Upon leaving the fully-time staff employment last year, I responded to the Call of Duty and jumped into the labyrinth of "contractors’ consulting world" focusing on project risk management and QRA. It has been busy but interesting new venture multitasking on several different things simultaneously. Through my short endeavors, I realized it is really not an easy job as I had “dreamed”. In summary a good consultant should - have deep knowledge in his practice area and is regarded as an expert; - have a heart to selflessly help people and assist project for success; - hold the highest ethical conduct and the strictest confidentiality / NDA; - be a humble but inherent team leader, team player, and facilitator; - possess its own inventions, patents, bespoke techniques and innovative formulas & process; - have something unique (and rare) that can benefit project & contribute to values; - be always ready to jump into the action and getting dirty for job done; - communicate and communicate to keep the clients informed of your work and progress. Consultancy is a journey, an inspiring part of the trip to final retirement. It is in this journey that you have chance to give back to the society your knowledge, experiences and wisdom that you have accumulated over your career and through many failures.
