Three young men were hired as technicians by a mining company in Ghana in 2007. I know one of them. It was their first regular employment following months of contract gigs here and there. They all started with dreams and ambitions to get as far as they could in the mining industry. Four years after they started, one of them, John, resigned. He joined another mine as a technician. He worked hard, exhibited great work ethics and continued the weekend studies he had started from the previous company. He took charge of his career development, he got a mentor and chose the conversations he sat in. It paid off. He rose through the ranks and became a Superintendent four years after joining. After seven years in the company, he joined another company, then another and another, all for growth. Early this year John started a new role as the Head of Engineering for a mining firm in Ghana. Now listen to something very interesting. On his first day at work, John bumped into two technicians. Guess who they were? The same people he had started with in 2007. They’re still technicians. As he wondered “what happened to the dreams and ambitions?”, they complained: “We’ve not been lucky. No one sent us for training nor promoted us, both here and in our former place” Your own dreams. We are urgently Hiring# Plant Manager – Gravel & Crushed Stone Mining Plant Location: Kapadvanj Salary: Up to ₹60,000 per month (excluding additional benefits for food and accommodation provided by the company) Shift Timings: First Shift: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM Second Shift: 6:00 PM – 8:00 AM Note: The plant operates continuously, so the Plant Manager will be required to ensure the smooth functioning of both shifts and be available for urgent issues 24/7. Job Overview: The Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the gravel and crushed stone plant, ensuring maximum production efficiency, safety, and compliance with all regulations. Key Responsibilities: Overall Supervision and Management: Lead the plant's operations, overseeing both shifts to maintain continuous production. Ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards. Reporting and Communication: Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to upper management on plant performance, production targets, and other key metrics. Maintain open communication with upper management and provide handover reports for smooth shift transitions. Supply Chain Management: Oversee the supply of raw materials and other necessary resources to ensure uninterrupted production. Coordinate with the purchase department and government bodies for smooth supply operations and compliance. Cost Optimization and Efficiency: Develop strategies for cost reduction while optimizing plant performance and capacity. Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime. Coordination with Departments: Regularly communicate and take feedback from the purchasing department, government authorities, supervisors, and lower-level management. Address and resolve any operational issues that may impact plant performance. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct routine safety audits and training sessions for staff. 24/7 Availability: Be on call to handle any plant emergencies, equipment failures, or urgent operational issues. Manage shift handovers effectively to ensure the plant runs smoothly without interruptions. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in plant operations, preferably in the mining or manufacturing sector. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and reporting abilities. Knowledge of cost-control strategies and capacity optimization. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for report generation.
