🆕 🚨 Two new reports from Planet Tracker call on governments to support the precautionary principle on #DeepSeaMining. Planet Tracker's report "Race to the Bottom" analysed the economic benefits, tax and royalties that countries would receive if they sponsor mining and found that deep sea mining would generate little to no royalties and taxes for countries, on top of causing large-scale environmental damage. https://lnkd.in/eDHCaSRv The "Mining for Trouble" report found that deep-sea mining could have significant negative economic impacts on countries that export cobalt, copper, nickel and manganese.
