If you ever look at the tags on our social media posts and wonder, "Who are they?" we'll tell you now. They're our partners, and we couldn't do what we do without them. There's a lot to running an organization like ours and while we greatly appreciate when people give us money, we also benefit from the guidance and steering that these groups give us. As a group barely a year old, we soak up all the tips and lessons that our partners can give us. It's also a sign of how things should be in the nonprofit world. We need to help each other. There is competition for resources, yes, but there's also plenty of opportunity for collaboration and referrals. A volunteer who may be unsuited for one agency could thrive in a different one. For example, someone who signed up to help at an animal shelter may find out the hard way that pet dander is not their friend. But walking dogs for a group like Elderdog is right up their alley. Our mission at Volunteer Peterborough is simple; we strive to match volunteers to the ideal organization, and make the recruitment process easier. Our partner agencies make that happen. These highly intelligent, social creatures are forced into small, unnatural enclosures where they are deprived of their freedom to swim vast distances, socialize naturally, or hunt as they would in the wild. Their confinement often leads to physical and psychological distress, manifesting in abnormal behaviors. Give today to end this exploitation, and advocate for the release of these animals to sea sanctuaries. It is a day to look within ourselves to acknowledge and share the unique abundance in each of our lives: How am I showing up for my neighbors today? How can I challenge attitudes of scarcity, when I know that our community has each other's backs? What can I do today to make sure my neighbors know they can count on our community safety net? 2024 is the hungriest year our community has ever seen. CEAP is on track for a record amount of food served as we see the highest need for our Food Market in our 52-year history. At the same time, we know that many neighbors face barriers - like mobility challenges and lack of access to transportation – that prevent them from reaching CEAP’s doors. That’s where “CEAP On the Move” steps in.  No matter the barrier, CEAP is here to fill gaps in access. In these crazy times, I'm doubling down on good work....and Trident United Way does good work. We serve ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed)--hardworking households that just can't make ends meet. Maybe the of parents of small children are only able to work part-time jobs; maybe a senior on a fixed income sees their purchasing power shrink while the cost of living grows. I grew up ALICE. Did you? So how do we help? Trident United Way is a connector, linking people in need with agencies that can help them. Trident United Way provides direct services, whether it's funds, food, school supplies or so much more. Trident United Way runs two Resource Connection Centers, brick-and-mortar sites where we can serve our neighbors. We need more centers to reach more people. This holiday season, consider helping us ignite the light and raise funds for our next Resource Connection Center so we can reach more people in need next year and every year. Please consider a gift.
