In a recent landmark settlement, Blackbaud has agreed to pay $6.75 million to settle a case with the California Attorney General over a ransomware attack from 2020. This incident exposed major security failings like weak passwords and lack of multi-factor authentication, affecting millions globally. At previous companies, I've seen firsthand how poor security practices can impact not only customers but the whole organization's reputation.
