Depression does not knock and come in. And when it does, you may feel ambushed, attacked or even sidelined in your own home. Depression does not heed how powerful you are, nor does it care about how talented or creative you are. As #worldmentalhealthday approaches, I want to share from my own struggles with depression: 1. It took me a long time to decipher that the fatigue, the rage and the lack of interest I experienced in my own creativity was actually depression eating away at me. 2. I kept isolating in various forms to find out what was wrong with me, and in connection to that, the world, never at once thinking cultivating a conscious community could actually help me emerge. 3. Despite being in therapy and creating therapeutic spaces for other people, it was my need to transcend depression that kept me there—I wasn’t able to make the time or space to feel into it and look at its “real” contents. 4. The fear of being small and the striving to keep it under wraps made me more exhausted than I can ever give words to—in hindsight, I would rather be small and let my brave mask slip away. 5. Slowing down and learning to re-parent & nourish yourself may perhaps be the strongest need of the hour if depression has been chipping away at you. As I continue to submerge and re-emerge through the woes & triumphs at work and life, the painful but rewarding change I’ve seen in myself is how I meet this intruder. May you also find a way to disarm depression and have a dialogue (perhaps many) that finally sets you free. #mentalhealthawareness #depression

Living with depression can often feel like navigating through a dense fog with no end in sight. It's a deeply personal battle, one that's not easily understood by those who haven't experienced it firsthand. Yet, despite the complexity and weight of this invisible burden, society sometimes reduces it to a simple command: "just cheer up." But if only it were that easy, right? Depression isn't a mood that can be switched on and off like a light. It's a profound imbalance that affects every aspect of life, from the way you think and feel to how you interact with the world around you. So when well-meaning friends offer this seemingly simplistic advice, it can feel like a dismissal of the very real pain and struggle you're enduring. It's important to recognize that depression isn't a choice or a switch that can be flipped at will. It's a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and environmental factors that require understanding, support, and often professional help to navigate. So if you're battling with depression and someone tells you to "just cheer up," know that it's okay to acknowledge the invalidation of your experience while also seeking out the compassionate support you truly need. You're not alone in this journey, and healing begins with understanding, acceptance, and the courage to reach out for help. #depressionmemes #memes #depression #anxiety #anxietymemes #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness

💬 Let's Talk About Depression: Breaking the Silence 🌿 Depression impacts millions, but many struggle to openly discuss it. Why is it so hard to talk about depression? Understanding these challenges can help us support those in need better. 🚫 Stigma and Misunderstanding: Often, society sees depression not as the serious health condition it is, but as a weakness. This stigma leads to fear of judgment and discrimination, making it incredibly hard for individuals to share their struggles. 🛡️ Fear of Being Vulnerable: Opening up about depression can make a person feel exposed and weak, which stops many from seeking the support they need. There's a common desire to appear strong and independent, despite internal battles. 🎭 Social Expectations and Pressure: There's immense pressure to project a "perfect" image. Admitting to feelings of depression often feels like admitting defeat or failure, contributing to silence and isolation. 🤷♂️ Lack of Awareness and Education: Without proper understanding of depression as a medical condition, symptoms can be overlooked or minimized. Education is crucial in changing perceptions and encouraging more open discussions. 🌍 Cultural and Generational Factors: In many cultures and older generations, discussing mental health issues is taboo or frowned upon. This can prevent those who are suffering from seeking help. We need to fight stigma, increase awareness, and foster empathy to create an environment where discussing depression is supported and encouraged. Let’s educate ourselves and provide safe spaces for conversations. No one should have to fight alone. 💪 #MentalHealthAwareness #DepressionTalk #BreakTheStigma

Where does depression exhaustion come from? It comes from primarily three places. ❤️ Firstly, our thoughts. We are always ruminating with negative thoughts and self -beliefs. And what if we'd done this in the past, would things be differently? ❤️ That takes a lot of work. If you can imagine concentrating on an exam for a couple of hours, how tired you feel after that, that's number one cause of depression exhaustion. Number two is huge amounts of effort that go into trying to not feel our feelings. ❤️ And unfortunately, our thoughts cause negative feelings and therefore we're always battling negative feelings and emotions. And number three is wearing a mask so we can interact with society while we're experiencing number one and number two. ❤️ So that's like the three parts of depression exhaustion, which is a million times worse than just tiredness. ❤️ #depression #exhaustion #overthinking #trauma #mentalhealth

Speaking freely about depression… Not an easy subject to talk about as depression ravishes so many lives… So today I’m sharing a little inspiration story about depression which changed my world view… We have so many theories about how to help with depression… And sometimes the best way to help is not the most obvious… Sometimes a steady dependable hand can work wonders. I’m so grateful and honoured to have been that steady dependable hand for others. … Truth is… We have no idea how each one of us feels… Or the extent of the difficulty and suffering we endure or have endured… And depression shuts us down, stops us from talking… But if nothing else, I think the enduring message from this little story is simple… Talking helps… But you don’t have to talk… Sometimes just being with someone who cares, for long enough… Is enough! Please don’t suffer in silence, please don’t suffer the silence. With warmth, James >>> If you could do with feeling “lighter”, “calmer” or more “hopeful”, then let’s have a chat… Please remember that mental pain is just as stifling as physical pain, and you don’t need to face it alone. <<<

How to Build a Depression With 3 Steps? 1. Hold on to the past Punish yourself for your mistakes. Stay in bed and quarrel with yourself. Repeat over and over again the memory of: • missed opportunities • mistakes made • wrong ways 2. Make many efforts to change the past: Visualize all the situations from before and imagine how wonderful your life would have been if you had not made those mistakes. (Be sure to ignore that this is by no means certain). Stay in bed, look up at the ceiling, and hope that the past will eventually change. 3. Condemn yourself for your powerlessness They held on to the past and tried to correct old mistakes after the fact. Of course, that didn't work. But: To complete the depression, you still have to punish yourself for your inability to "change the past." Even if these lines seem somewhat cynical at first glance: This is exactly how the build-up of depression works. What you have built up, you can also break down and then rebuild. That is the good news. In this self-help e-book, you will learn the three steps to reduce and neutralize depression https://lnkd.in/e6yxS2d5 #depression #selfhelp
