Pleased to have presented a paper entitled "Disrupting Inequity Through Digital Storytelling: Possibilities and Challenges" at the Computers and Writing Conference 2024. This project explores the complex terrain of using digital storytelling to disrupt systemic inequity and pursue narrative justice for marginalized communities. It asks: How can minoritized populations leverage digital counter-storytelling for social change when sociotechnical systems remain structured against them? What risks and unintended harms emerge from platform-based activism and whose responsibility is it to address those ethical complexities? Can dominant corporate platforms, with capitalist imperatives, ever be sites for liberation, or should social justice efforts develop alternative digital ecosystems centered on minoritized users’ needs? It was my humble attempt to address all those issues and I'm eager to continue this conversation. #CWcon24 Here's a link to the Conference-

DUE TODAY: Working Group Discussants for #NCPH2025. Ten working groups seek discussants to share your experiences and collaborate with the group on shared solutions. Involving up to six facilitators and up to twelve discussants, working groups allow conferees to explore a subject of shared concern before and during the annual meeting. In these seminar-like conversations, participants have a chance to discuss questions raised by specific programs, problems, or initiatives in their own public history practice with peers grappling with similar issues. Working groups articulate a purpose they are working toward or a problem they are actively trying to solve. They aim to create an end product(s), such as a report, article, website, or exhibition. Explore the array of subjects Working Groups will delve into and submit your application TODAY: https://lnkd.in/g3Dya9BQ

Where it’s at:
What does it mean to govern with, not for, the living world? There are numerous people experimenting with new ideas - and technology is also opening up new possibilities as well. We're gathered today in The Hague Humanity Hub with the DemocracyNext team and around 15 people who have been trying different approaches across Europe. Looking forward to meeting everybody and learning from them all today! I've shared my white paper that gives an overview as to why I'm personally interested in these ideas. We'll be publishing a follow-up paper after the convening in July 👀

An important exploration into Governing with the more-than-human world that Claudia Chwalisz and DemocracyNext are creating with this paper and convening. From the paper: "How do we want democracy to evolve today, and what perspective do we want underpinning how we think about it? For me a recognition of the interconnectedness of all things is essential for trying to understand the world, and should be taken into account in how we innovate all aspects of democracy." These are certainly thoughts that resonate with me and colleagues at Co-Intelligence Institute Looking forward to the second paper in July 2024!

This week, we participated in a panel discussion on the topic of knowledge agency, hosted by the Danish Network for Architecture and Urbanism Research (DARE). Our main point emphasized that the knowledge we hold is constrained by the systems in which we work. To address this, we need to strengthen the connections between different systems and disciplines. This is precisely why initiatives like New Urban Voices are so important.

Earlier this week, our CEO, Ezechi Britton MBE, attended the Science and Innovation Banquet at Mansion House, organised by the City of London Corporation. The event was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of the incredible advancements and collaborative efforts in science and technology that are driving our future forward. As we reflect on the event, several critical themes and discussions stand out: 🔹The event showcased UK’s strengths and the collaborative spirit that drives us to excel on the world stage. It was a powerful reminder of CFIT’s commitment to expanding our influence in these critical fields. 🔹The partnership between Government, private sector, and academia was a focal point of the discussions. The importance of these collaborations in fostering a robust innovation ecosystem is key. 🔹 The future of innovation depends on a skilled and educated workforce. There were compelling discussions on how we can further invest in education and training to support the next generation of scientists and innovators. The event was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do at CFIT – to support and drive innovation that benefits everyone. #OpenFinance https://lnkd.in/eaFPJ7Xc
