Me on stage at this years Health Tech Hub Copenhagen Summit discussing the transformative role of investments in health technology for women's health together with two very powerful women Mette Dyhrberg & Charlotte Nørgaard Langer. What a great event - and this picture is from one of the moments that I actually succeeded in getting the opportunity to say something 😉. Anett Falussy was moderating the debate and I think you had quite an easy task today 😄 This was so amazing, I think you could all feel the power of female health tech founders and investors underlining that we are here to create valuable changes for the healthcare system - not just new health tech products and profit. Some facts: - In 2006 only 4% of VC went to companies with at least one woman decision maker. That percentage had grown to 85% in 2022. - Companies founded / co-founded by women earned 10% higher revenues than male led companies. So as I told the investors in the room: If you invest in us you have a bigger chance of getting more of your money back 😉 Female founders are driving growth in the health care sector and women’s health is a market ripe for disruption and innovation. Next week I will be in New Jersey for the Femtech & Consumer Innovation Summit by Kisaco Research to present K'ept Health. It's the work of early women's health champions and recent research, such as McKinsey & Company's reports "Closing the women’s health gap: A $1 trillion opportunity to improve lives and economies" & "Closing the data gaps in women’s health" that makes it that much easier for myself and other Femtech founders to get their solutions in the hands of women who desperately need them and to share their work at leading conferences and in various industry publications. Last week I had the privilege of being at the 25th Annual Conference of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association in Toronto along with some awesome Novartis colleagues, and Operations Leaders. ❤️ A common passion took us there: the eagerness to enhance Women Empowerment in Healthcare. Inspired by science, technology, service excellence and driven by patients centricity. 💡Here some remarks that stood out: How to continue narrowing the gender gap in the overall industry? Be it on leadership, health, and funding ❗️Female Leadership: Healthcare continues to outpace other industries in the representation of women (over 70% of workforce), however, women remain underrepresented at senior levels ❗️Women’s Healthcare: research shows that in connection with 770 types of diseases women are diagnosed later than men, with an average difference of about 4 years. ❗️Venture Capital Equity: studies indicate that women are massively under-represented among both venture-backed entrepreneurs and VC investors, with companies founded solely by women receiving less than 3% of all venture capital investments. 🔔 Empowering, building trust, enabling and encouraging frequent health screenings with focus on patients experience, and enabling ecosystems of support while fighting biases can make differential steps. 📌 Let’s continue working together to address these challenges! 🌟3 Points From FemTech Connect that Should Light Your Fire for FemTech 🌐💡   I spent an amazing two days at FemTech Connect conference organized by FemTech Association Asia. Big shoutout to Maaike Steinebach and Lindsay DAVIS for organizing. It was an incredible group of doctors, VCs, FemTech startups,  tech and healthcare leaders, and passionate FemTech enthusiasts.   These 3 data points resonated with me:   1️⃣ In the US, women control 80% of healthcare spending decisions, underscoring their pivotal role in shaping healthcare priorities and innovations. While we don't have this exact data point in Asia, we know that women go to the doctor way more often and that men delay going to the doctor until something severely malfunctions (heart, lungs, genitals etc)(Source: Deloitte 2023 study: https://lnkd.in/gQTbm5zH) 2️⃣ FemTech only represents a small fraction (3%) of digital health investments despite being half the population. 70% of the women's health apps in Southeast Asia have been founded since 2019. Asia has the population, the capital, the digital capabilities, and the need for FemTech innovation.   3️⃣ For every $1 invested in women’s health, an estimated $3 in economic growth is projected, highlighting the positive return on investment and the substantial economic opportunity in closing the women’s health gap.
