Simon Kerridge’s Post

The twenty-second of the weekly series of posts about “the book” (The Emerald Handbook of Research Management and Administration Around the World) - The Influence of RMA Associations on Identity and Policymaking Internationally by Virág Zsár. https://lnkd.in/egYrWxm3 This sixth chapter in the Identity section looks at the importance of associations to RMAs. ChatGPT summary of the chapter conclusions: Associations for Research Managers and Administrators (RMAs) have emerged globally, especially in Western and Northern Europe, to promote self-awareness, knowledge exchange, and capacity building among RMAs. These associations offer services like networking, mentorship, and policy advocacy. Research shows these associations enhance professional identity, mutual assistance, and policy influence. Despite their benefits, the presence of RMA associations in Central and Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans is limited. This study uses social constructivism in International Relations to explore how these associations can reinforce RMA identity and influence policy. A questionnaire reveals that long-term membership and active involvement in associations significantly impact professional identity and career development. Further investigation is needed to understand their policy-shaping potential. You can of course read the whole book, chapter by chapter, online for free. https://lnkd.in/dNdEYsRj Or if you are desperate to own a hardcopy then use code EME30 at the checkout at Emerald Books: https://lnkd.in/erGU-4tS International Network of Research Management Societies NCURA: National Council of University Research Administrators Society of Research Administrators International Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS) Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) BRAMA Brazil - Associação Brasileira de Gestão e Administração de Pesquisa Científica COREMA MYRMA ARMA UK (Association of Research Managers and Administrators) EARMA Canadian Association of Research Administrators ARMA - NL #RMA #BookAnnouncement #OpenAccess #ResearchAdministration #ResearchManagement #Book #Research #ResearchSupport #Profession
