After a business has ended… It’s been quite a heavy few months of business struggles, closures or other handovers in food and drink with a fair few founders I know affected. I just wanted to post and say that I also know many founders who have been through similar experiences in the past and have used that experience. Some have used it to decide that founding is not for them and that employment is. Some have gone in to consultancy and shared their valuable lessons with other businesses. Some have gone again and started something new. Others have changed direction completely and followed a different passion in life they hadn’t had the chance to explore before. Generally these are the people I like to learn from. Empathies with any founders going through it now. Looking forward to learning from you in future. #startuplife #entrepreneurship #founderlife #founders ______________________ I found this fallen leaf with star-shaped pattern (possibly created by a leaf-miner?) yesterday and it struck me as rather symbolic.
I closed my food business 3 years ago after 13 years. Covid was a huge factor plus the tough market at the time. It does take a while to recover when you pour your heart and soul into a business. I took the route of helping share my experience and journey with founders getting started. I get for some people they decide to go back into employment. I have considered that a few times! The food industry is a tough nut to crack but I enjoyed the ride!
100% agree with this. It's the knocks that make you wiser.
"Some have used it to decide that founding is not for them and that employment is" - 🙋🙋 What a cool leaf! (For now at least, technically The Unfounders is starting something new..)
challenges are everywhere- never a free lunch but the fmcg world is brutal atm.
Nature is beautiful! 🙂
Wow beautiful leaf, uncertainties not easy to go through. I liken this transition even if not expected as part of a life cycle that just isn’t complete yet.. 🦋 Metamorphosis-life cycle one day a caterpillar, spins itself into a cocoon, the caterpillar radically transforms into a butterfly …That’s when it flies… the ground may have felt familiar, but it’s the transition when the heights are really reached… (ok they die quick but that’s not the point- 😉🦋) I would rather live and reach new heights then stay on the ground feeling safe…It’s not safe, just familiar.. you never see butterflies on the ground once they evolve.. You see them flying on beautiful flowers, enjoying the sunshine they have done the hard bit I guess! A lot to be said for how we evolve.... and turn into what we was meant to be all along!
