“Practice leads to Perfection”. These are results of the four practice tests at Gadchiroli district for std-5 (Jul24- Nov24) for Government ZP schools. The improvement is not just a function of repeated tests. It is important to activate the feedback loop – to identify the improvement areas and then run the discipline of making the improvements. Many questions come to mind: - Is the data authentic - Have FLN/ Learning outcomes improved - What made this possible in Gadchiroli district In a large government set-up with over 1,500 schools in remote rural areas running such programs and improvements – faces many hurdles and challenges. Laying the Foundation: Pre-Primary Education and School Readiness🎒 The early years of a child’s education are crucial in setting the stage for lifelong learning. Recognizing this, the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) emphasizes the importance of pre-primary education and school readiness through play-based, activity-driven learning approaches. The transition from pre-primary to primary is a crucial step in a child’s learning journey. Ensuring children are "school-ready"—equipped with essential skills in language, cognitive, psychomotor, and socio-emotional domains—sets the stage for equitable access to education and better learning outcomes. School readiness is more than just a child’s preparation—it’s a collaborative effort across three dimensions: 1️⃣ Children’s readiness for school: Foundational skills and competencies. 2️⃣ Schools’ readiness for children: Supportive and inclusive environments. 3️⃣ Families’ and communities’ readiness for school: Active engagement in the child’s learning journey. The Government of Arunachal Pradesh and NITI Aayog recently organised a NeVolution workshop on “Improving Education KPIs for Northeastern States,” in Itanagar. Manoranjan Nayak, Executive Director of Reach to Teach Foundation, was invited as a panelist for the Technical Session on ‘Pedagogy and Modern Learning Techniques.’ He emphasised the need for a shift towards competency-based teaching and learning, highlighting the importance of contextualising teaching-learning resources to align with ground realities rather than relying on idealised assumptions. Manoranjan also stressed the importance of building a supportive ecosystem for teachers, which the foundation is actively pursuing. In his conclusion, he noted, "Solutions designed to create pockets of excellence do not work for scale; designing for scale requires a fundamentally different approach." Our stall at the event showcased our teaching and learning products. The content we have been creating specifically for schools in Arunachal Pradesh evoked a lot of interest and high footfalls. We have been working in partnership with NITI Aayog and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh since 2022 to bring children in Classes 1-12 up to grade appropriate learning levels.
