Day 2 of our Lyme Disease Awareness Campaign! Early detection of Lyme Disease can make a huge difference in treatment and recovery. Today, we're focusing on early symptoms to watch out for: 1. The "Bull's-eye" Rash: - Appears in 70-80% of cases - Usually 3-30 days after a tick bite - Expands gradually, reaching up to 12 inches - Often feels warm but rarely itchy or painful 2. Flu-like Symptoms: - Fever - Chills - Fatigue - Body aches - Headaches - Neck stiffness 3. Other Possible Early Signs: - Joint pain, especially in knees - Swollen lymph nodes - Facial palsy (drooping on one or both sides of the face) Remember: Not everyone gets all symptoms, and some may have none at first. If you've been in tick-prone areas and experience these symptoms, consult a healthcare provider ASAP. Visit https://lnkd.in/g6BwujTR for more information on Lyme Disease symptoms and prevention. May marks Lyme Disease Awareness Month, a crucial time for educating the public about this increasingly common disease. Lyme disease was first identified in the 1970s in Lyme, Connecticut, by researchers investigating why unusually large numbers of children were being diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. This investigation led to the discovery of Lyme disease by Willy Burgdorfer, and the bacterium responsible, Borrelia burgdorferi. Transmitted through the bite of infected black-legged ticks, early detection is key to effective treatment. The most recognizable sign of Lyme disease is the Erythema Migrans rash, often resembling a bullseye, which appears in sometimes less than 40% of infected persons. Accompanying symptoms include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, and muscle and joint aches. Recognizing these signs early can drastically improve treatment outcomes, and I encourage anyone who suspects they might be infected to consult their healthcare provider promptly. Sharing personal stories can immensely help in raising awareness, and Dr. Victoria Lau is one to ask about her story! If you think you may be infected, or you have been in your past, please do seek care at All Seasons Integrative Health! #AllSeasonsHealing #IntegrativeHealthSolutions #NaturalWellnessJourney #WholeBodyBalance #ChiropracticCareForAll #HealNaturallyWithAllSeasons #EmpowerYourHealth #LiveYourFullPotential #BeyondPainRelief #HolisticHealingApproach #MultifacetedApproach #AllSeasonsIntegrativeHealth #LymeDisease #LymeAwareness #DrPaulBekkum #DrVictoriaLau #DrCarlyDropik
