Successful k12 superintendents often have commonalities, which we track and report in regularly. 📈 One is having consistent open communication with school boards. One trend that’s catching on because it gets results? Structuring board and student communication! 🤝 🌟 Top tips! • Create student advisory committees to provide input on policies • Invite student representatives to attend and speak at board meetings • Implement feedback systems like suggestion boxes or digital platforms • Host town halls where students can directly engage with board members • Encourage board members to visit schools and interact with students regularly

What are our priorities for this new school term? High on our agenda are two key actions aimed at all primary PE subject leaders. We are actively working to encourage them to: 1) Sit down and meet with their EYFS lead and their SENDCo to discuss all things PE. Have they got the resources, materials that the pupils need to engage, inspire, enjoy, access physical development / physical education / physical activity. How can you use PE and sport premium to not only excite pupils about moving but to ensure your provision is equitable? Pupils' needs across your school are different and one size (size 5 footballs) doesn't fit ALL!! Listen, learn and create a shopping list - you'll never regret it! 2) Raise awareness to help ensure ALL primary settings have and secure access to the new online version of afPE's Safe Practice in PESSPA. I am constantly surprised by just how many schools do not have the current version (book format) as this really is an essential resource for all those involved with pupils in physical activity, PE and sport. This new online resource is set to be available at the end of September. 3) Continue to empower teachers and school staff through our national qualifications and CPD

I found this ‘Guidance for Teacher Appraisal - from September 2024’ an encouraging read. I am in favour of an emphasis on an ‘intrinsically supportive and developmental’ process in a ‘school culture that values openness and fairness’. As well as setting out suggested cycles and a reasonably malleable model policy, this document recognises that effective Professional Development is a shared responsibility between teachers and their schools. As I am in the final stage of the NPQ in Leading Teacher Development with Best Practice Network, I can see the benefits that professional learning brings at individual and institutional level. An appraisal cycle which includes responsive, reflexive Professional Development can underpin the pedagogical excellence that teachers aspire to and learners deserve. https://lnkd.in/eYaMJV-Z

As educational body (school management/-board/department of education) you need to recognize the importance of evaluating teachers’ performance, therefor it must not to be left out in the schools’ performance planning. It’s crucial to regulate it for teachers to know that they are subjected to reflective practice. In the planning not only describing the ‘how’ and ‘why’ evaluating the performance but also having the different approaches prepared on addressing the outcome. This shows the accountability as an educational body towards the teacher’s CPD and students’ learning. Check out the link 👇 https://lnkd.in/dRFcgvHz

A micro-credential is a short, competency-based recognition that allows teachers to demonstrate mastery in a particular area that supports students' success. To earn this micro-credential, teachers had to complete more than 70 hours of professional learning through the LETRS course (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). A total of 110 D220 educators have earned this micro-credential.

10 questions parents should ask at their Parent Teacher Conference this Fall: Question 1: Is my child a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner? It is crucial for parents to understand whether their child is a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner because it empowers them to support their child's educational journey more effectively. Knowing their child's learning style allows parents to tailor home study environments, provide appropriate learning resources, and communicate more effectively with teachers about their child's needs. The Academy of Academic Excellence's teachers are skilled at recognizing this empowerment and can provide appropriate learning resources, further enhancing the child's learning experience. This understanding can improve academic performance and foster a more positive attitude towards education, ultimately contributing to their overall development and success. Dean Rita T. Busch
