I am honored to be speaking at the 2025 AGB Foundation Leadership Forum in Washington DC. I’m serving on two panels with extraordinary leaders at this meeting, which draws more than 800 foundation board members, chief executives, and other foundation and campus leaders and industry experts. One panel focuses on “Engaging Young Alumni as Advocates, Volunteers, and Future Donors,” featuring Jenny Cooke Smith, Paul Rucker, and Rachel Schaefer. On the closing day, the other panel is about “Developing Large-Scale Gift Opportunities, featuring Pete Lasher and Kimberly A. Hopely. Nonprofits need to be run by or be in close contact with the communities they serve-period. We can’t create impactful organizations if we don’t even know what they people we claim to serve need. It’s important to be having these conversations within our leadership teams and as future founders of organizations.
