Our commitment to producing not just sustainable products, but also developing more sustainable solutions, has taken another step forward, thanks to the creativity of the Cedo team in Vietnam. 🇻🇳 Traditionally, pallets of goods and cartons are secured for transportation and safe warehousing by wrapping them in multiple layers of stretch film – which is then removed and wasted when the pallets are prepared for container shipment. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, QA Manager at Cedo in Vietnam, had the great idea to develop reusable pallet covers which offer the same strength and security, but which can also be used time after time. And it’s been an instant hit ! She said: “Previously, we were using up to 3000 rolls of stretch film each month, so we calculated this solution could save up to 50 tonnes of stretch film per year!” “I shared my idea with warehouse manager Mr Thang and within just one week, we had prototypes from some of our helpful suppliers who work in textiles.” By working closely with QA and warehouse staff, Trang and the team developed the reusable pallet covers to make them transparent for visibility of contents, as well as adding a ‘door’ for easy access and a belt to quickly adjust the cover to the pallet dimensions. She added: “As part of our social and environmental commitments - People, Planet and Products - our new pallet covers perfectly align with our commitment to reduce the amount of plastic used in our products." "In addition to the huge reduction in waste of stretch film, they're also easier to use and offer better protection for the contents from the elements too.
