This is exactly the type of systems that ruin everything around us!!! There are people who spend thousands each year to have quality education on specifics of job responsibilities only to work under such people. All because an office could not get hold of a certain qualified person for the position from within the organization. They then use the "push-up" strategy which the second-highest gets the post and so forth down the line till the "no-qualification" person gets to have an office carrier - thanks to the ones before her for teaching her the same old technique which in most cases, is the root cause of no improvement and forced resignations. We all have witnessed receptionists with no or less qualifications moving into the main administrative structure and weakening the systems. Everything in that system will be passed-on and no real change and advancements can be achieved. I am a tradesperson with licences and so many trainings and experiences and it is horrifying to see people like this one to make it to a position to dictate systems that directly affect the real hat-wok-lain. You ask them to change something that is not working right and their answer will always remain the same; "The Door Is Open" So the big question here now is; WHY IS THIS A GOOD NEWS? For a country with horrifying economic and political setbacks; this is one of the terrifying news for a generation whom have had enough of garbage flowing through PNG systems!!! PERIOD!!!

A picture of Mission 25 through the eyes of a valued employee💙❤️ “I’ve spent my entire adult life educating various ages. My job in the classroom was to teach objectives through lessons, lectures, and activities and assess whether or not the objective was met. My role as a navigator at Mission 25 is very similar to that in a classroom—to educate with the end goal of a task accomplished and objective learned. However, the tasks are less about an assignment and more about a lifestyle. I no longer grade papers…but instead I assist with job applications and pick out business appropriate outfits before interviews. I scour cookbooks and meal plans with single mothers who sometimes need food on the table in 10 minutes and sometimes want to try a dish they never dreamed of making. I’ve shown grown men how to sort laundry and iron button down shirts so that they are presentable in front of a judge. I’ve proofread apology letters from parents to their grown children owning some not-so-proud moments in their years. Instead of leading parent/teacher conferences, I sit alongside mothers during IEP meetings and help navigate modification plans to best fit their child. Instead of honors convocations and award banquets, I anxiously wait in the car for a resident to receive their 90-day chip at an AA meeting and celebrate three months in recovery with a milkshake. As with any profession, the teammates you surround yourself with can make or break your day and your spirits. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the team I get to work alongside make me a better human being multiple times a day. It’s this perfect balance of push/pull, give/take, tap-in/tap-out. It’s a trust that simply can’t be explained. Bonus…I get fed bologna sandwiches and watch my co-workers dance with spoons at staff meetings. What’s not to love?” Karen Hedrick #EmployeesMatter #ServingPeopleMatters #LifeSkills #JobInterviews #Recovery #Healing #Growth #Safety #Trustworthiness #Collaboration #Choice #Empowerment

As we head into the end of the week, I always think of the many cleaners that are either finishing the week or have cleans to be performed. And like Rosie in the video, the question I ask is - are the cleaners getting treated as they should be? Yes, the impression in the video is of a gig worker, and the first impression that comes to mind is an Uber driver, or maybe a DoorDash delivery person, but what if I told you that the Fair Work Commission changes, due August 26, 2024, class cleaners as gig workers in Australia. Why? Because most cleaners are underpaid, mistreated, and incorrectly classed as contractors (over 80% percent of the cleaning industry operates like this - Sham Contracting) when they actually employees. So I ask you, if your cleaners, like Rosie are trying to earn a living, but getting to some payment that equates to $7 per hour, do you think this is fair? There is a solution - for everyone to accept that all workers deserve to be paid correctly, even if this means that the cleaning costs will go up. And just like Rosie, when she sees an opportunity to get a well paid job, where she is treated well, we get cleaners approach us. Cleaners hear from their relatives, their friends, and our current cleaners about how we treat our team, and contact us, asking how do they get a job with us. And to you, what is the outcome? A cleaner that is so appreciative to have the job, so happy to at last be paid correctly, so happy to have the training and support, they do their ultimate best to deliver to you, our clients and us, the best standard they can. So as we all end a week, I ask for some thought to be given to the Gig workers - the ones that work the hours most of us don't like to even think about working, and ask are they being treated fairly?
