I'll laugh at you! 🤡 Let’s Incorporate Humor in our Retrospectives 🎭 One funny retrospective technique I recommend is the “Comedy Roast” format. 😄 Here’s how it works: The Comedy Roast is a playful way to wrap up the iteration by allowing team members to humorously critique various aspects of the sprint while focusing on the learning outcomes. 🎤 Participants take turns giving lighthearted roasts on challenges faced, like: “I think our backlog was more of a black hole this sprint than an actionable list!”🕳️ The key is keeping the roasts good-natured and constructive. The focus should remain on what was learned, not assigning blame. 🙌 This technique is great for engaging the entire team in a fun, non-threatening way. It reminds everyone that missteps are part of the process and learning journey. Plus, it reinforces an internal improvement mindset. 💪 By ending on a humorous note, teams can better reflect on their journey, share laughs over funny moments, and acknowledge progress made. It reinforces that while mistakes happen, they aren’t the end of the world if you learn from them. 😛

You create a virtual video meeting for virtual physical contact and give feedback. Video feedback is more effective than a written word. Especially if the team is demanding feedback. Video meeting shows the authenticity of the feedback, as those receiving the feedback will see who is talking and gain confident in what is being discussed. They can have a chance to also interact with the feedback giver for real time clarity.

This image has (probably) made a thousand trips around the world, but is remains instructive about how People-Manager and Mentors should view their team members. If we do not make the time to understand the specific tools that each team member needs to succeed, we may not be able to equip them properly to succeed. Guess what? Each cog in that big wheel is necessary for the Big Wheel to keep turning. Let's continuously work toward ensuring that each cog is properly fitted for its role.

Stay reliable, accountable, and open to learning.
