So what is Topobathymetric lidar survey? Topobathymetric lidar survey simultaneously measures and records three distinct surfaces – land, water, and submerged land using airborne laser-based sensors. While this technology shares some characteristics of traditional airborne lidar mapping, it also has significant differences that increase the understanding of the nearshore environment for improved marine resource mapping, benthic habitat mapping, shoreline delineation, nautical charting, and marine debris mapping. Some days ago we spent almost 2 weeks doing this funny LiDAR survey here in Georgia...more than 1,100 acres collected ...the funny thing as we know , theoretically one project like this could be done in 5 hrs fly only for the LiDAR...but here is the thing in real numbers: 10 days of field work (targeting and check points survey 150 points totally), more than 15 hrs. between test flight , change battery, spot base movement with the manlift (BVLOS) , LiDAR flight…and another couple of hrs more for the ortho only the effective area (roads…)..we had to divide this project in 7 flights using the manlift in some different spots… Technical details: 1188 acres 2-foot contours 250' spacing 79 targets 5H LIDAR flight M600 LiDAR Surveyor32, Mavic 3E, Phantom 4 You are free to request info. Dave operates a Trimble SX-10 which is a combination of terrestrial laser scanner as well as a robotic total station which allows him to collect as-built data as well as compliment the total station data with LiDAR. Yes, it's a lot of data, but both types work together to provide an accurate dataset of as-built information. Terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) and UAS LiDAR collection are part of Flatirons, Inc. workflows to deliver high quality data used not only for topographic mapping and volumetrics analysis, but also for as-built purposes as shown. 🗺️Transgrid undertakes annual LiDAR 3D laser aerial survey across our entire 13,000km network as part of our bushfire prevention program. This helps us identify and manage any potential vegetation intrusions prior to the bushfire season. The LiDAR survey also captures high-resolution orthorectified images of our easements, which are useful for project planning and environmental assessments. 🛩️Our Easements Maintenance team, in partnership with drone provider Carbonix, is currently investigating how uncrewed aerial system may assist in capturing LiDAR and orthorectified imagery, along with other potential uses. We have recently added a DJI Zenmuse L2 LiDAR to our fleet of surveying equipment. We fly the LiDAR, using our Drone and capture millions of points per second, providing highly detailed 3D mapping information. Using LiDAR, rather than photogrammetry, we can penetrate vegetation and accurately capture the ground surface detail, without requiring vegetation clearance. This method means that we reduce the costs and delays associated with vegetation clearance as well as reducing any potential harm to the environment and ecology. It also allows us to map areas that are difficult or unsafe to access using traditional surveying methods. The speed of surveying by drone and precision of the LiDAR significantly improves our efficiency and productivity in capturing topographical survey land surveying. The CW-15 UAS completed a challenging aerial survey over rugged canyon terrain, capturing high-precision data despite extreme conditions. 🌄 The survey area covered 55 sq km, with elevations ranging from 1170m to 4020m, resulting in a height difference of 2850m. 🚁 The highest flight altitude of a single mission involved a terrain elevation difference of over 1300m, with the drone climbing to an altitude of 2000m. 📡 Paired with a high-precision LiDAR system, the CW-15 demonstrated exceptional obstacle avoidance, adaptability, and efficiency.This high-performance LiDAR excelled in connecting precision with reality.
