📜 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀? The European Model Clauses (#EMCs) are leading the way. A few weeks ago, our colleagues Katharina Anuscheh Behrend, LL.M. and Leonel Lisboa participated in a workshop co-hosted with the Responsible Contracting Project and the German Institute for Human Rights to discuss the 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 (𝗘𝗠𝗖𝘀). These clauses are designed to embed human rights and environmental due diligence (#HREDD) into supplier contracts, aligning with the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (#CSDDD). Led by the Responsible Contracting Project and supported by the Initiative for Global Solidarity, this ongoing consultation process seeks input from diverse stakeholders to shape the final EMCs.   𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲! Today we held our second and last webinar on measuring socially responsible public procurement. Both webinars brought together approximately 200 participants from all over the EU to learn more about the framework we developed to measure #socialimpact in #publicprocurement. Is the CSRD a burden or facilitating corporate action on nature? Standardising reporting is crucial for enhanced transparency and creating a level playing field.

EFRAG finalises materiality assessment implementation guidance document, which includes: 1) Step-by-step explanation of how to conduct the double materiality assessment process, including examples of impact and financial materiality and their interplay 2) FAQs on e.g. double materiality assessment, stakeholder engagement and reporting, etc 3) Explanations on how other international standards such as GRI and ISSB can be leveraged to comply with the ESRS materiality assessment. #Doublematerilaity #ESGreporting

Contrary to fears that CSRD's requirements would be overly burdensome, the EC asserts that the directive is designed to be manageable. 🚨 Big News for Local Authorities! 🚨 Today, LARAC welcomes the milestone announcement that most UK local authorities will receive their indicative Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) payments – a key step in the Collection and Packaging Reforms (CPR). This news brings essential clarity on upcoming policy changes and funding details, including payment calculations, performance metrics, and recycling credits. However, there's still work to do. Northern Irish local authorities remain excluded due to governance delays, and LARAC is urging swift collaboration to close this gap. 💬 Cathy Cook, LARAC Chair: “This is an important step, but local authorities need time to assess these figures against expected costs.
