Nordic Circular Summit, the biggest conference on circular economy in the Nordics, encourages Nordic countries to collaborate in scaling #CircularEconomy solutions. This year, Finland had the honor of hosting the event on November 18, 2024. Representing Finland in the opening ceremony was Outi Suomi, Mission Lead, Business Finland. She stated that cross-sectoral cooperation - bringing together businesses, research, and the public sector - provides the strength needed to move toward a thriving and regenerative future. Business Finland supports innovation ecosystems that aim international collaboration and promotes the creation of business ecosystems . Vilma Sofia Rissanen, Senior Advisor, Business Finland Sweden, hosted the session Circular Business for the New Global Market – How to scale and finance Circular Innovations? Iceland Ocean Cluster´s Verbud is an environment developed to support the next generation of ocean actors. This platform seeks individuals, teams, or startups with knowledge, great ideas, and even existing early-stage solutions to address identified industry challenges and support them through Verbud´s innovation development environment to get these ideas off the ground and create value. Applications will be evaluated in collaboration with our partners Marel Fish, Hedinn, and Reiknistofa fiskmarkaða RSF and a network of experts. Deadlines for the applications is the 10th of May. I’m honored to have been selected as a jury member for the Semi-Final session of the ClimateLaunchpad Europe contest this week. Innovative startups from #Spain, #France, #Germany, #Netherlands, the #UK, and #Türkiye presented groundbreaking ideas aimed at creating a better, more #SustainableWorld🌍. Witnessing the energy and enthusiasm of these brilliant minds was truly inspiring💡! Some of the key areas of #innovation included #prosumers #aggregation, #GridResiliency, #GreenMobility, new #materials for #buildings and for #packaging, #EnergyStorage and #CO2 absorption. A few key takeaways that stood out to me: 1️⃣ #CO2 reduction is a priority for these startups, each offering unique solutions and technologies to tackle the issue: this mission clearly resonates with the #NextGeneration of changemakers🌱. 2️⃣ Every solution was deeply rooted in #CustomerNeeds, an approach that’s essential but often overlooked👏. 3️⃣ #Innovation and #sustainability are not just buzzwords—they’re being embraced as the pillars for creating impactful, disruptive solutions⚡. It was a privilege to be part of this jury alongside such esteemed professionals, including João Dias da Silva, Brooke Wachtel, Patricia Kroondijk.
