Last night the Chairman of our Social Committee (Stelios Palazis), pictured with our CEO, Julian Panter hosted the SmartSea Christmas party at the wonderful Lithos Concept Bar, Limassol. The atmosphere, food, cocktails, music, and venue was all incredible and every one of the team enjoyed their evening. SmartSea was launched in May of this year and has come such a long way since then due to the dedication and hard work of the team. Last night was a great chance to celebrate 2024. Festive greetings to all of our clients, partners, suppliers, colleagues and shareholders.

It's a been while, but it's Friday. Summer is on the horizon. I can say this when you can finally walk outside during a warm Chicago morning and layers are a thing of the past. Just typing this is a mistake; it will probably snow tomorrow. With this exciting time, comes events and festivals. Concerts, Lollapalooza, ball games, cookouts, they're all back. What's also back is the need to staff them appropriately. You ever been to a festival and the crowds outnumber the beer tents 4,000 to 1? Yeah me too, knowing full well I'll give them $18 for a tall boy of Budlight to be warm halfway through it. Covid was a huge set back for so many companies adjusting to public gatherings again. It took a while for many organizations to build back a confident roster of workers they could lean on. Some are still in this rebuilding process. This article does a great job of explaining the effects of short-staffed events. There's so many things to cover when you're preparing for them - food, music, ambience, etc. https://lnkd.in/gvTmnksG Don't let inadequate staff be an extra issue, especially when there is on-demand labor now to supplement it so easily. THE GREAT FESTIVAL FRENZY In a small town, two festival organizers, Alex and Ben, were tasked with hosting the annual SummerFest. Both had the same budget, but different approaches to allocating resources. Alex focused on booking a famous headliner, spending 70% of the budget on a single act. Ben, however, allocated resources across various aspects: - 30% on local talent - 20% on marketing - 20% on food and beverages - 30% on logistics and infrastructure As the festival approached, Alex's headliner canceled due to illness. The event was on the verge of disaster. Meanwhile, Ben's diverse allocation paid off: - Local talent drew large crowds - Effective marketing created buzz - Food and beverages were a hit - Logistics ran smoothly SummerFest was a huge success, with Ben's event attracting twice the attendance and revenue of Alex's. Here’s the simple version of what we talked about, focusing on the vision for the festival & some marketing insights. ---> The Festival Vision Imagine a festival that feels like a giant family reunion, where the essence of the community is captured. They want to create an event that's not just fun but meaningful, bringing people together over the love of food & community. ---> 4 key challenges discussed 1) Crafting the Right Message Sharing the festival's story in a way that excites and connects with people & answering critical questions Why now? What will the experience be like? Is there any partnerships in place or of interest that will enhance the experience? 2) Smartly Using The Marketing Budget Planning to spread our budget across key moments like the big reveal, ticket sales launch, and the final countdown, ensuring each phase not only reaches people but drives efficient sales. 3) How To Make Everyone Welcome Accessibility is crucial.
