Did you know you can actually snowboard on hemp fibres? More precisely hemp-fiber reinforced thermoplasts? The #DuroBast project is using native bast fibres to create 100% bio-based solutions for automotive interior, bus bellows and sporting equipment like snowboards. Take a look at this prototype by project partner Silbaerg GmbH at the Hannover Messe, here presented by Maximilian Salmins from the Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe GmbH. You can meet the DuroBast team till April 26th in Hannover, Germany and learn more about the innovative spinning methods and fibre pretreatment solutions developed in the project. Ribblesdale High School in Clitheroe, UK, has taken a major step towards enhancing both performance and sustainability by installing a brand-new artificial grass sports pitch. Faced with the challenge of replacing their aging surface, they chose our innovative ‘Edel Athmos’ 3G system, designed to withstand daily use while reducing environmental impact. ‘Edel Athmos’ is crafted using recycled turf components, thanks to the recycling technology developed by Re-Match. Their process transforms end-of-life turf into raw materials that can be used to produce new turf. Paired with our ‘Edel Xero’ backing—also made from recycled turf components—the result is a circular, renewable, high-performance field that balances quality and environmental responsibility. Working alongside Blakedown Sport & Play Ltd, we provided the turf and system specifications for the project. They expertly removed the old surface and installed the new ‘Edel Athmos’ 3G system, ensuring a seamless transition from the old turf to the new one.
