I never knew "joy" is not the same as "happiness" One momentarily uplifting emotion in multiple doses can lead to long-term well-being. This is perhaps a clue on how we can shift our therapy approaches from down-regulating negative emotions towards up-regulating positive ones. There was a phrase: "the problems may not be what's apparent" Alternatively, perhaps: "the solution may not be complex" Such multiple doses of joy may define, in general, the life of anyone in #mentalhealth crisis. In fact, those with good #mentalwellbeing often have emotional ups and downs, or can recollect some past experience with intense negative emotion. Thus, approach to #psychotherapy does not necessarily have to be down-regulating sadness, anxiety, stress, or fear. #healthpromotion #positivepsychology
