🌍 Unity is essential in the fight for a just and peaceful world. In our video ‘Sisonke-Ensemble,’ we celebrate the power of togetherness and collaboration in the journey towards decolonization. This video, produced by Charly Chitambo and Vlad Astancai during the Decolonise Training in Visual Storytelling, highlights the importance of standing together to create a world where everyone is valued and included.
Decolonization is a collective effort that requires the participation of individuals and communities committed to justice and equity. This video is a reminder that by working together, we can overcome divisions and build a future rooted in solidarity.

We need to address young people's needs and rights in the coming EU Parliament elections.
We need to resolve the pointless generational divide, by realizing that we need to work for the young first if we want to have a shot at pursuing the European ideals.
It is not enough to say that you care, we need action now, on so many fronts, from mental health, wealth gaps, access to the job markets, to housing, etc.
Europe will be social, or will lose its soul.
The European Parliament: A Pillar for ToPeace's Goals and an Active Youth
The European Parliament plays a crucial role in building a fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable Europe. As a defender of values like peace, equality, and justice, it not only shapes policies that affect millions but also provides a platform for youth voices — essential for the future of the continent.
At ToPeace, we draw inspiration from the European Parliament’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 16, which promotes peace, justice, and effective institutions. It is also a source of strength for empowering young people as agents of change, encouraging active involvement in political, social, and environmental processes.
Why is an active youth so important? Because the future is built with fresh ideas, energy, and determination — unique qualities of young people. The European Parliament provides programs, support, and platforms that amplify youth participation, ensuring they are not only heard but also part of the decisions shaping our societies.
Together, we can achieve more. By joining forces with institutions like the European Parliament, we believe we can transform dreams into concrete actions and build a movement with both national and European impact. Now is the time to be the driving force of change.
What do you think? How can youth make a difference on the European stage? Share your thoughts with us!

#Youth4Peace
This week we share a project that is focussed on bringing education into conversation with art and activism. Seen and Heard: Young People’s Voices and Freedom of Expression is a European Union project that places youth at risk of marginalisation and exclusion in Malta, Germany and Poland, at the centre of political dialogue. A variety of learning experiences have been designed in collaboration with art practitioners like Sita Brahmachari, Charlie Cauchi, Uli Decker and even a guest appearance by Chris Riddell. The project includes co-creation of art – a book and a docuseries – with children playing a central role.
At a time when Europe is churning - with groups pushing political divisiveness and yet others resisting it – the project explores what it means to be a young citizen in Europe today; what it means to be a child and a grown-up in Europe; what being European in an age of mass-migration feels like.
While the project is based in Europe, learnings from it promise to be meaningful across different contexts. One of the big challenges of our contemporary world is fostering a sense of community and finding ways to connect with those who are different from oneself, reminding oneself of the things that connect us to a shared humanity. What better then, than a project that uses the arts with young people from migrant and local communities, to foster the courage to speak up about injustice, and makes place for them to be seen and heard.

As #EuropeDay and the #Europeanelections approach, in a time that queries us and puts us under the scrutiny of our consciences, giving "substance" to the duty of #solidarity that permeates our European citizenship appears to be more crucial than ever.
Fortunately enough, joint efforts at a supranational level are being made in order to implement the right-duty to serve our community, which sees us all as protagonists and beneficiaries, called upon to do what is within our capabilities in a philantropic spirit, with love and dedication.
The #EuropeanSolidarityCorps constitute yet another attempt and opportunity for young Europeans aged 18-30 to build a more inclusive society, helping the most vulnerable people and responding to social problems through voluntary work and training for collective benefit throughout Europe. In this way, participants aim to undertake commitments of shared responsibility and mutual support.
In this regard, on October 24, 2023 I took part in a conference organized at the #EuropeanParliament in #Brussels by some honorable MEPs in order to discuss and encourage youths' involvement in solidarity projects. The meeting was held in memory of late President David Maria Sassoli, Whom I had had the honor to interview.
Here is an excerpt of my speech:
"What better way to accomplish this mission of ours than through joint efforts at a supranational level? If not by facilitating constructive dialogue and safeguarding the core values of freedom, dignity and solidarity to which David Sassoli referred during His inaugural speech as President of the European Parliament? He believed, as I hope we all do, that Europe has still much to achieve, but that this can only be done together, with ambition and compassion.
While grief, affliction and atrocities are rampant in the world, it is up to us to choose whether to remain inert in the face of the pain of others, turning our gaze elsewhere, with indifference and selfishness, or rather to side with the Latin playwright Terence, in affirming with conviction: "I am a human being, and there is nothing human that is alien to me", thus recognising the humanity of our neighbour, that same humanity that makes us rediscover ourselves as fragile and vulnerable and at the same time strong and resilient together.
... It is by doing this in my own small way that I have discovered the inherent value that lies in being able to dedicate oneself to others. I have experienced first-hand that one truly receives by giving oneself, by bringing hope where despair reigns.
I ask You: is this not the point? In this our strength lies: in the desire to make a difference in the days of others, leaving a legacy of Love and fraternity".
Thank you for the support! 🤝
