Not sure what you did Sunday past but I along with 11 other people attended a Mental Health First Aid Training Course delivered by Pete Richardson - First Aid Perthshire. I find the subject matter important to me both on a personal and professional level, so when I knew my expiry date was due on my original certificate I had know hesitation in returning to Pete Richardson - First Aid Perthshire. IMHO every business should have trained staff at hand to support their colleagues in the workplace - it's not a legal requirement - but best practice goes a long way! Give Pete a call to discuss your business requirements and maybe top up your first aid training at the same time. #mentalhealth #wellbeing #talking #bestpractice

Completing the Psychological First Aid Course from The Johns Hopkins University has been a transformative experience. This course taught me the essential skills needed to provide immediate, compassionate support to individuals affected by crisis situations. In times of emergency, emotional and psychological well-being is just as critical as physical health, and the tools I’ve learned will help me respond effectively to those in distress. Understanding how to assess emotional needs, prioritize care, and help individuals regain a sense of stability is invaluable. I now feel equipped to handle situations where people are experiencing acute psychological distress, whether it’s after a natural disaster, a personal loss, or a traumatic event. The course also emphasized the importance of listening, offering emotional comfort, and connecting individuals to further resources if needed. What I’ve learned is not only crucial for helping others but also for fostering empathy, resilience, and support in my community. In a world where mental health is often overlooked, this course empowers me to make a real difference in people’s lives during some of their darkest moments. The skills gained are not just about intervention—they are about creating an environment of care, compassion, and connection when it's needed most. #PsychologicalFirstAid #LifelongLearning #JohnsHopkinsUniversity #learningNew #MentalHealth

I recently undertook the Mental Health First Aid Training course developed by Mental Health First Aid International. It was delivered by one of Small Chilli Marketing's client's, Medical Solution First Aid Kits and Training Australia. Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) are equipped with the knowledge, confidence and skills to provide someone with mental health information and support when it matters most. Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults, how to recognise and respond to an emerging or worsening mental health problem, and the treatments and supports available. Just like any type of First Aid for physical conditions this course is an important one. It helps guide individuals on how to offer support and connect a friend, family member, co-worker or someone they know to appropriate resources and support. The training aims to improve knowledge, reduce stigma, and increase first aid actions towards people that may experience a mental health issue. I am by no means an expert, but hope that more people take the time to undertake this important training and become more informed. #MentalHealthFirstAid #MentalHealthAwareness #TrainingForLife #ReduceTheStigma #FirstAidTraining

Two highly worthwhile days last week were spent refreshing my Mental Health First Aid quals #MHFA. When its now the law to identify and deal with psychosocial hazards in the workplace, having a good understanding of how to recognise and deal with people with a mental illness is even more important. It works for the world of work and the world outside of work. 83% of us here at CTC are MHFAers which we see as part of our full suite of first aid capabilities ('Five star' first aid = MHFA, CPR, Basic First Aid, Advanced First Aid, and Bleeding Control). The photo of the butchers' paper is the team effort around the topic of anxiety. 16.8% of 16-85 years olds report they have experienced an anxiety disorder in the previous 12 months (ABS). The mental health cost to the Australian economy per annum is somewhere between $200-$220bn (Productivity Commission). Thanks to our trainer Emily Douglass for keeping us engaged for two days.
